First Impression: #FentyBeauty by Rihanna

Late last week, during New York Fashion Week, Rihanna launched her makeup line - Fenty Beauty. It was a secret passion project for Ri who spent 2 years carefully curating a collection. Fenty Beauty is available at Sephora unlike some other "exclusive" celeb makeup brands *side eye*. The collection includes 12 products from matte foundation, lip gloss to blinding highlighters. Most ground-breaking was the 40 shades of foundation that sent the beauty industry into a tizzy. Had to buy some products to support so here are my first impressions:

I avoid physical stores especially in Manhattan so since I was ordering online I kept it to a minimum. After watching all the bloggers & editors sharing video from the launch event I indulged in a Killawatt Freestyle highlighter and Sephora was offering a sample of the Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Long Wear foundation. Both are $34, which is fairly reasonable for a celeb brand considering many others, especially at Sephora, inflate the price simply because of a name.

Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation in 150 - "This longwear foundation is sweat-proof, humidity-proof, and life-proof. The medium-to-full coverage formula gives you a few minutes to blend before it locks on to skin." It starts at 100 so shout out to pale girls. 150 is still considered for light skin with neutral tones. The formula is like buttah! So smooth and feels like nothing on the skin. It dries to a matte finish but doesn't dry out the skin. It lasted all day so I will definitely repurchase a full size. Need to try 140 and see if it matches better. 150 is more on a yellow side for me but not too shabby.

Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Lightning Dust/Fire Crystal. Described as a "soft pearlescent sheen / supercharged pearlescent shimmer." I opted for this vs Trophy Wife (the one taking over the 'gram) which is more yellow. One is more like a bronzer then you can top off the cheekbones with the pearl shimmer.

Foundation + highighter

First impression: Super impressed! Quality, sleek packaging. Luxurious formula. Great shades that are flattering for all. Bravo to RiRi! Definitely need to my hands on some more and try some of the brushes.

Have you tried Fenty Beauty yet? If so, what products are you loving?
