Battle of the Pore Minimizing Primers: Smashbox vs Benefit

Battle of the Pore Minimizers: Smashbox vs Benefit
One of the top issues beauty products try to "fix" is minimizing pores (which is up for debate can actually happen). Why I think most of it is bs, I do think some primers can help create a flawless look that can help appear to minimize pores. Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Face Primer ($31) is my usual go to and is a best seller. However, I received a sample of Smashbox's Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Primer ($39) and thought I'd compare.

Benefit's claims: "Quickly minimize the appearance of pores and fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin. Apply this silky, lightweight balm alone, under or over makeup. The translucent formula contains a vitamin E derivative known to protect skin from free radicals." And has one several beauty awards.

Smashbox's claims: "Created to help make makeup look better and last longer on set—we took it a step further with our pore-minimizing primer that instantly blurs fine lines and pores while mattifying shine and controlling oil for 8 hours, leaving skin with the perfect canvas for makeup application."

Both leave a mattifying finish. Smashbox's is lighter so fits with my skintone better but benefit's has a slight color to it that it can be worn alone. If Smashbox combined the formula with one of their color correcting primers then it would be perfect!

Verdict: benefit edges out Smashbox merely because of price.

Which pore minimizing primer do you prefer?
