My December Birchbox

This month's Birchbox theme was Shine On. "Hosting get-togethers, dressing up for shindigs, and searching for gifts this month? We're here to help you master the holidays and shine your very brightest all month long. This box is filled with brilliant, festive products - plus treats for on-the-go touch ups and easy gifting." I really liked this box as there was a nice mix of makeup to skincare products plus a few festive add-ons. Here's what I received:

I had never heard of this brand and I just literally handed out 4 black eyeliners to friends & coworkers because I was accumulating too many lol. "A creamy waterproof eyeliner supercharged with pure pigments. The soft and creamy formula of this eyeliner glides on effortlessly, allows enough time for blending, then sets to a long lasting finish that won't budge, no matter what..." I do like that it's cruelty free but $20 is a bit pricey for an eyeliner. I've been enjoying Julep's eyeliner actually as it is easy to glide on for us non-eyeliner experts.

Also a new brand to me. "A volumising root lift spray that builds body and texture." I definitely need help with volume but this is like a volumizing root lifter I got that makes your hair crispy. Is that the only way to get volume? I play around with how much I spray in but I don't often blow dry my hair so not sure how much I'll use this. P.S. I know they were trying for a cute name but no one wants to think about that in beauty.

Last time I tried IPKN from a Birchbox sample I was not too blown away. Still don't have a website but I definitely enjoy this primer more than BB Cream I had tried. "This creamy SPF 15 primer creates a smooth, radiant canvas for makeup, refining pores and enhancing skin tone. And thanks to the blend of nourishing fruit extracts and shimmer pearl powder, your skin will glow whether you’re wearing this under foundation or under nothing at all." Your skin will definitely glow! I know some folks don't always want that look - I know I don't - so I'd recommend it on your cheekbones for highlighting. But I like that it does what it says it will and I can mix how I like. I also like that it is SPF because not all primers have that so it's another step to wear SPF.

Wearing both the radiant primer & highlighter

If you read my beauty empties on Instagram, I have not been particularly kind to Milk Makeup products; however, this highlighter I did enjoy. (Insert "it's lit!" joke here). It is sold out so I can see why it's in high demand. "Luminous cream stick instantly creates a radiant glow. Universally flattering shade brightens every skin tone." I'm fair skin so I can only report on that but will say I do like how it looks on my skintone. It does blend nicely and you can build up the color. I mixed it with the radiant primer in this selfie.

"For a better round-the-clock solution to fine lines, wrinkles, and puffiness, try these gel pads with 100 percent pure collagen. The hydrating pads plump and restore the youthful appearance around your eyes and enhance eye contour naturally." For undereye pads, I'm usually just looking to decrease puffiness and look more well rested. I put these in the fridge for an extra cooling affect. I kept them on for 20 minutes and enjoyed them minus the fact they slipped a lot. I might repurchase in the Birchbox store since $18 isn't a bad deal for a pair of 5.

Add-ons included these gift tags (which I used this year!) and this makeup compact which is cute addition to a gift plus the box itself adorably looked like a wrapped gift as I always repurpose mine.

What did you receive in your Birchbox this month?
