Battle of the Micellar Waters: Bioderma & e.l.f.

The micellar water craze has hit big in the beauty blogging world. When I was in Paris I decided to pick up one of the originals - Bioderma. Did you know one bottle of Sensibio H2O sold around the world every 5 seconds? Damn! I was enjoying it but didn't know if it was worth the big bucks on repurchasing. Then e.l.f. released their Micellar Cleansing Water for $7 so I knew I had to compare to see if I could go down in price without losing quality.

What's Micellar Water? Essentially what micellar water does is remove makeup while also cleansing and soothing the skin. If you have oily skin then it keep your pores from getting clogged with oily products that help break down makeup. It can also be used to refresh your skin in the morning. I love a multi-purpose product!

Bioderma's Sensible H20 goes for about $15-$20 depending on what size you purchase. It is the golden child of the category. I mentioned I picked it up in Paris and have been using it on and off since. When I used it compared to e.l.f. it required less wipes to remove a full face of makeup. It left a moisturizing affect on my skin afterwards. If you have oily skin then this might not be a perk but I liked it. It did a decent job removing eye makeup. Overall I get the hype!

e.l.f.'s Micellar Cleansing Water is $7 for 5 fl oz (a decent amount). I really liked the packaging. I will say that you have to shake the bottle to get the product out whereas with Bioderma you can more easily squeeze. Also, one of the benefits of micellar water is to be able to remove all makeup including eye makeup since it's supposedly gentle. e.l.f.'s did a sting a bit because there is alcohol. I also felt like it was a little drying whereas I didn't experience that with Bioderma.

Bottom line: I'll stick with my Bioderma but when I run out I'll compare a few other drugstore options.

Which micellar waters have you tried?
