My June Birchbox

This month's Birchbox was Everyday Magic. "Pulling rabbits out of hats is adorable, but we prefer an everyday kind of magic. This month, we'll be showing you the right products and techniques for that presto-chango payoff. Bright lipstick and blush are no-brainers, but we have a few other tricks that might just transform your routine." I went with the regular box rather than the curated and selected a sample from benefit. There was no tissue paper in the box so it felt a little thrown together in my opinion. It's been awhile since Birchbox has slacked. Here's what I received:

PARLOR® by Jeff Chastain Moisturizing & Repairing Shampoo (1 fl oz/8 fl oz $22) | Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream (.5 fl oz/ 5 fl oz $49) | Evologie® Intensive Blemish Serum (.33 fl oz/.5 fl oz $35) | Benefit gimme brow volumizing fiber gel in medium/deep (.03 oz/full size $24) | Laura Geller New York Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Gilded Honey (sample/full size $26)

Yes, I liked this... the first time I received it. How many PARLOR® by Jeff Chastain products am I going to receive?

I know Oribe has a cult following and I will agree that the smell is great but have been hesitant to dish out the dollahs. This product is described as a leave-in conditioner for thirsty hair. I added it sans conditioner after using the Parolor shampoo and I was fairly disappointed. It says it is loved by thick hair which I don't have so that's why I didn't double up because I thought it would weigh my hair down but it left mine feeling kind of like straw. The scalp was clean but the ends looked awful in my opinion. I'll keep playing with it but wouldn't use it as a leave-in conditioner solo again.

"Rapidly banishes visible blemishes, discoloration and surface scars without irritating or drying your skin. The doctor-developed YS3 COMPLEX® penetrates the skin, going straight to the source to eliminate trapped bacteria, dirt, and oil, delivering natural skin-repairing ingredients and intense hydrators where needed most." It smelled a lot like tea tree oil to me and in the past those products have irritated my skin but this one didn't seem to. I've used it 2 nights in a row and I can say that's it is helping.

This was the sample I selected because I love a good brow. I was excited to try a new product launch from benefit as I'm usually a fan of their product. Currently I'm loving/using Glossier's boy brow so wanted to see how this compared. There are only 2 options so I went with the darker one but I felt like it didn't quite match up with my brunette brows. Also, it had a really strong smell that I didn't particular care for. I have to say overall I was fairly disappointed. It didn't build up a lot of mousse that was noticeable so I filled in with powder.

I tried a Laura Geller blush awhile ago so was excited to try a new one. "This luminous, warm highlighter celebrates the Italian dessert’s rich texture with a formula that applies like a powder but feels like a cream, making it easily blendable and ideal for building to your perfect coverage." I didn't want to touch it - it was SO beautiful! I was a little worried "Gilded Honey" would be too dark for me but it comes out really light and you can build up the color. I quite liked it!

What did you receive in your Birchbox this month?
