I don't watch movies like I used to. With late nights at the office, my DVDs are collecting dust. I ended up cancelling my Netflix DVD subscription - GASP! I know I'm like the last person to use the DVD rental service but there was something to popping in a DVD. My new favorite podcast, 3 Day Rental, has gotten me in the mood for some old classic films so I find myself downloading on iTunes or Amazon. This weekend I freed up some time for myself to watch movies. Here's what I watched:
Get A Job - Great cast and a positive spin on the millennials for a change! Bryan Cranston is the dad and Miles Teller is the son. The father loses his job after working at the same company for 30 years and is trying to find his place in the modern workforce while his son a recent college grad is deciding between corporate life or chasing his dreams. It's a sweet story and a nice feel good movie that I think puts a positive spin on the millennials in the workplace (when many like to hate on us).
Deadpool - Really wanted to see it in theatres but didn't get a chance so was glad it was finally on VOD. Awesome! Finally an interesting "superhero" movie. The awesome soundtrack, the sassy sarcasm, the self-awareness of being in a movie, breaking the 4th wall, the hilarious nods to Ryan Reynolds... all around a great movie. If you can stomach heads getting chopped off then I highly recommend it!
All the Way - Continuing the Bryan Cranston train, he transforms into former president Lyndon B. Johnson in this HBO movie. This is a 2+ hour movie so I'll be honest, I did a few chores while it was playing lol. Bryan Cranston and the rest of the cast was great but it was a bit too long in my opinion.
I also watched Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure lol for some odd reason I was in the mood. Perhaps I wanted to turn my mind off or needed a good '80s flick. We were really obsessed with time travel in the '80s lol.
