My May Birchbox

This month's Birchbox theme was outdoor parties. "This month, we're bringing you products and tips to keep you radiant on all your al fresco adventures. First step: SPF. Not only is sun protection crucial for avoiding skin cancer, but it's also the key to health, youthful skin." Here's what I received:

Vita Liberata Self Tanning Gradual Lotion (1.69 fl oz/6.76 fl oz $30) | amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo (.75 oz/5.3 oz $24) | MDSolarSciences™ Mineral Moisture Defense SPF 50 for body (.25 oz/4 oz $39) | COOLA® mineral spf 30 daydream™ makeup primer (.10 fl oz/1 oz $42) | ModelCo Lip Lacquer Lip Gloss in Morocco (.05 fl oz/full size $24)

I've tried this amika dry shampoo before. I didn't like it but it's a small bottle so I can keep it for travel.

"Luxurious sun care formula that helps repair and protect every inch of skin, from your head to your toes. Unique blend of biomimetic moisturizers, ceramides and humectants help replenish skin’s moisture barrier." I enjoyed this product as a pale girl I definitely need SPF 50 and the combination of moisturizer + SPF protection. Sadly I only got one use out of this small sample.

I'm not a big fan of lip glosses and I felt like this color was a little dark for my skintone. But I will say that it lasts and is not overly sticky so if you like lip glosses then it's worth checking out.

I was excited for this product because I'm a a fan of Coola products and I love the concept of a primer that has SPF to eliminate one step in my morning beauty routine. However, sadly I didn't notice any difference in the lasting power of my makeup with this product. I also sadly only got one use of out of this tiny sample which appeared to have 90% air in it.

This self tanning lotion is the add-on I selected for my box because as a pale girl I like to dabble in the self-tanner arts. I love Jergens because it is gradual and a lotion so was curious to see how this product performed. It says "suits all skin tones"; however, I applied a thin layer and it came out VERY dark for me and a little on the orange side. I also like Jergens because it is a lotion and this product says lotion but didn't really feel like it hydrated my skin. I'll keep playing with it to see if I can find the right balance but in the meantime I'm wearing pants.

What did you receive in your Birchbox this month?
