My April Beauty Product Favorites

This month I traveled for 10 days so I was able to finish some beauty samples I have been hoarding for the past few months. It has been mostly cold this month as well as in Paris & London so I needed products to keep my skin moisturized and smooth. There are no dislikes to report this month! Here's what I enjoyed:

Trend I'm Currently Craving: Off-the-Shoulder Peasant Tops

Currently Craving: Off the Shoulder Tops

The bloggers have done it again! A trend I didn't think I'd ever be craving would be these '70s boho off-the-shoulder tops that all the bloggers are currently rocking now that the weather has warmed up. I bought this Tobi top but it's a lot of skin for me so I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it. I was thinking of returning it for the Shoptiques top. Decisions, decisions.

Here's some inspiration:

Weekend Recap: BBQ & #Lemonade

Now that I'm working on a client that requires I do a little upkeep on the weekends, I tend not to make too many exciting plans. However, while I was in Paris I had to pick up some beauty goodies for my fellow beauty lover Laura. She promised if I brought her back some things that she'd treat me to a vegan dinner. How was I to say no? We checked out Red Bamboo because we both heard good things and it has been on my "to try" vegan list for quite awhile now. It's described as "eclectic & International, healthy, soul food"... or they have everything. I would definitely make reservations because we had to wait over an hour for a table of 2. Laura ordered creole "shrimp" and unfortunately it was not very delicious so it kind of set the rest of the meal on the wrong foot for her. I; however, enjoyed some faux ribs, which I hadn't thought to even have vegan ribs before. Then I promptly enjoyed some peanut butter cheesecake. I've missed my vegan delights here in NYC!

What This Vegan Ate in Paris

None of this unfortunately

Paris definitely proved to be more of a challenge than London. Parisians love their buttery croissants, cheese and crepes. They also seemed bewildered when I'd request no cheese on anything or ask for soy milk. There were a few vegan restaurants I found that were spread few and far between. It is also difficult when traveling with a non-vegan to lug around to these out of way places. If your hotel has a refrigerator then I highly recommend going to the supermarket and stocking up on a few items. Here's what I ended up eating:

Paris Recap Part 2

Continuing with my recap of my trip to Paris with the last two days. Thursday we went to a vegan restaurant (which is hard to come by here!) so I didn't have to suffer through just bread and vegetables lol. I walked through the Jardin des Tuileries and by the Musée du Louvre. I didn't dare go in the Louvre because of the massive scale but I did snap a pic of the famous pyramid out front.

My April Birchbox

This month's Birchbox theme was Make it Bloom. "The trees are blooming and our winter coats are tucked back in our closets. Spring is here, and we're celebrating the season with special Birchbox, featuring a stunning Rifle Paper Co. design." Always love when they partner with Rifle Paper Co. as they create beautiful boxes. Here's what I received:

Paris Recap Part 1

Since we stayed 5 days in Paris, I thought I'd break it up into two parts so the post wouldn't be super long. We stayed in the Saint-Germain neighborhood along the Left Bank of the Seine. It is divided up - Right Bank (which houses the Louvre, Place de la Concorde, Arc de Triomphe) and Left Bank (which houses the Orsay Museum, Jardin du Luxembourg & Eiffel Tower). We stayed at Hôtel de Fleurie, which was recommended by a business associate. It's a great neighborhood as it's clean, safe and fairly easy to maneuver around. The hotel is an adorable, authentic European hotel (i.e. tiny) but with modern accommodations.

What This Vegan Ate in London

I knew being vegan would provide it's challenges while traveling abroad. London was a really great city for options though. Many of the restaurants featured vegetarian friendly options with the V symbol next to it or were courteous enough to ask about food allergies (i.e. no dairy). If you're a carb loving vegan like me then you can opt for toast and jam in a pinch like I did at the local diner. Here's what else I ended up eating:

London Recap

We decided to cut our London trip short and today are headed to Paris on the train. So I thought I'd give you a recap of our short time in London. You really could do all the tourist stuff (Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Tower Bridge, etc) in one day as it's fairly close together or easy to get to via public transportation or the bus tour, which we did. We stayed in Holborn which was a quaint city right outside all the main attractions and close to the Underground. I would recommend this area except on the weekends a lot of the shops are not open because it's more of an "after work" crowd so during the week it's bopping but the weekend is much more quiet. But it was clean, safe and there were several chains of food so it didn't feel completely foreign.

My April Julep Maven Box

This month's Julep Maven box was all about brights. "Sun’s coming, Mavens. Even here in rainy Seattle we’re already in serious sunshine mode. We’ve sprung forward our mani-pedi palette in a major way and we’re really, really (really!) excited for you to see our newest BRIGHTS. Plus, we’ve got some fresh new ways for you to get the perfect glowing complexion that’s so on point right now." I wasn't into Vivid Sheers since it requires you to layer it over white polish - don't make me do the work Julep. I chose the Modern Beauty box. Here's what I received:

Gone On Vacation!

Today I'm taking my first vacation in 8 years. It could not come at a better time! I'm spending 4 days in London and 4 days in Paris. Both will be a first for me and my friend, Irel, who is coming with me. Of course our itinerary is a mile along (and thank you to everyone who commented with their recommendations!) so we'll see what we manage to see. But I'm just excited to be in these cities that I've dreamed of going. While I'm gone I thought I'd remind you of some of the travel posts I've featured on the blog while I'm gone:

- My packing tips that I still abide by
- Beauty items I love to travel with (and help me avoid those pesky regulations!)
- Guest post on how to travel light and still look like a million bucks

And stay tuned for some guest posts!

Be sure to follow me on Instagram and Snapchat to keep up with my adventures!

Beauty Review: The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops

One last review before I go! The Body Shop kindly sent me their new Shade Adjusting Drops. I honestly didn't know that The Body Shop did makeup products so was interested to see the results. As a pale girl, I find myself often needing to lightening makeup to better match my skin so this was right up my alley!

Weekend Recap: Final Touches

This weekend I really needed to sit down and figure out packing for my trip. I haven't had much time to even think about my trip let alone get excited about it. But now I feel more prepared and this vacation could not be coming at a better time!

What Should I See In London & Paris?

Growing up in rural New Jersey, Europe seemed so far away to me. Or perhaps when you're little even the city 5 minutes away seems so far away. But I always romanticized Paris. It was the capital of fashion and the people looked so chic there. So I made it my personal goal to get myself to Paris by 30.
