January Skirt Challenge

I am very much a tomboy. I feel most comfortable in a t-shirt and jeans. But from time to time a skirt catches my eye. I especially love a maxi in the summer. Doing some closet cleaning over the holiday break I noticed I had amassed quite the collection of skirts but hardly ever wear them. So I challenged myself to rock them... for the month of January (real smart Kim!). I kept it to strictly "winter appropriate" skirts though.

What I wore: ASTARS Into You Midi Skirt via MYHABIT // Tilly's Leather Skirt // Nasty Gal Bar From It Body Chain $25 // Lulu's vegan leather tote (similar here) // J.Crew Factory buffalo plaid scarf (similar here)

This is what I wore for a girl's night with Alex and Laura (as you may have seen on Snapchat). For some reason, I have been really wanting a sweater skirt. Perhaps because I thought it would be more comfortable than my maxi skirts. So I took a chance on this sweater skirt on MYHABIT and glad I did. LOVE IT! I wore it a black top and body chain. I think it was like a toned down version of my Halloween outfit lol. It was a random night where it was 55 degrees so I dared to just wear my leather jacket but immediately regretted that.

Wearing some of my recent drugstore beauties

Here are the rest of the skirts:
Outfit 1: Target kid's maxi skirt, PETER PILOTTO x Target sweater | Outfit 2: Candie's peplum skirt via Kohl's, "Juice" t-shirt, denim button-up, American Eagle studded booties | Outfit 3: H&M maxi skirt, Tobi cropped sweater (similar here) | Outfit 4: Old Navy Plaid Midi Pencil Skirt (on sale $11.97). Tomboy sweater via Banana Republic | Outfit 5: H&M cropped sweater, Banana Republic maxi skirt | Outfit 6: H&M gray skirt, Old Navy Plaid Flannel Shirt (on sale $11.97), New York Fucking City tee
Target kids to the rescue! Maxi skirts are hard for me since I'm so petite and most just drag. Thankfully I can still fit in kids large sizes so I have a few Target maxi skirts. I did; however, have random luck at H&M. I wore the midi skirt for my transitional fall outfit and since I wore this gray skirt for my holiday party look I thought I'd make it more casual for the challenge. I got the most compliments on this look! The Old Navy plaid skirt was one of my more recent purchases that kind of inspired this post. For some reason I was really drawn to this skirt. I thought I could dress it up for the office or make it more casual for a night out. One trick for petite girls is to find a knee length or midi skirt and it will fit like a maxi.

P.S. Thanks to my co-worker Daniel for taking most of these pics.

What item in your wardrobe do you neglect? How would you wear a skirt in the winter?
