Jen Kirkman's "I Can Barely Take Care of Myself: Tales From a Happy Life Without Kids" - I've been wanting to read this book since it came out (in 2009) because I'm in the same boat.
Unfortunately, it got pushed down on my reading list. Jen has grown to be one of my favorite comics bringing her humor to Conan, Chelsea Lately, & @Midnight. I think she was still finding this book when she wrote this 2+ years ago or she was really frustrated. I wanted to relate and love it more but it wasn't there for me. It is so bizarre that strangers will just give you their opinions on this topic with no hesitation in judging you. I very much enjoy being an aunt. And men hardly ever get the same scrutiny men do. She did give me a good line to use: "Oprah doesn't have any kids."
Ronda Rousey's "My Fight / Your Fight" - I've been mildly aware of her career because the Citizen Radio podcast I listen to are big MMA fans. She's been pretty radical much like Serena Williams and being unapologetic about being a strong woman with opinions. You may have seen Beyonce share her "Do Nothing Bitch" speech recently at a concert. The book is a mix of wise words form Ms. Rousey with antidotes. Honestly, many of the antidotes were a little dry and dull for me. Loved her strong inspirational words at the beginning of each chapter but could sometimes do without the story she shared. She does get personal and talk about her struggles with eating disorders and her Dad's suicide. It is amazing the kind of confidence she has in herself as we don't see that in many women. I still love her but I think you can skip this book.
