My September Beauty Product Favorites (And Not So Favorite)

This month has been extremely humid. We unfortunately haven't had much Fall weather. I've been mostly trying to keep my pores unclogged after sweating from all the humidity. Lots of wipes and sprays. Here's what I loved and didn't love using this month:

My Fall Wardrobe

I've been beefing up my fall wardrobe lately. All the items pictured (minus the shoes) I've purchased. I still have my standard fall cravings of plaid and darker nail/lip colors. This year I've been leaning towards "cocoon"-style pieces to be cozy like this Old Navy coat and sweater dress.

September TV Reviews

Fall TV is back! September signals the beginning of football season, the start of fall and a slew of new tv shows. I'll be tuning into my favorites - Scandal, Empire, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Castle, Last Man on Earth, Jane the Virgin (and I'm sure I'm missing some). Let's discuss the new series:

Review: MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation

Image via

In my Sephora birthday haul I picked up MAKE UP FOR EVER's Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation. I've heard wonderful things about their foundations but was intrigued by the stick style. It is on the pricier side at $43 but it had a shade light enough for me so I took the chance.

Vegan Beauty Brand: A Beautiful Life

For my 30th birthday my mom picked up some vegan nail products from A Beautiful Life. Heading into my second year of veganism, I'm definitely trying more vegan friendly beauty products. Never heard of this brand but excited to see they're based in Jersey! All products are Paraben, Sulfate & Pthalate free while also being cruelty free.

Transitioning Into Fall

Fall officially kicks off tomorrow and us New Yorkers could not be more excited. After a brutally hot summer, when it dropped to 70 degrees we were whipping out the sweaters and PSLs lol. This weekend was the first time we felt a crisp breeze in the air so I took the opportunity to snap some photos. I've come around on the cropped look because as a little person it fits me perfectly lol. Works in my favor! Also, I'm sure this H&M skirt is meant to be a midi but on me it is maxi length. As it gets colder I'll be opting for oversized sweaters and some booties.

Best & Worst Dressed at the 67th Emmy Awards

Tonight was the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards hosted by Andy Samberg (who I love!). He did an excellent job with this opening number. He also amazingly finished the show on time. A big trend was fitted sequin gowns with vampy beauty looks. Very refreshing on the red carpet from the heavy tulle princess gowns.

#NYFW Nails

For Spring 2016, it seems minimalist and mod inspired nail art was the trend. Adam Selman balanced his feminine collection by giving his models a tomboy edge. Nail artists dipped actual nails into polish and stamped round shapes onto the model's nails. For Tanya Taylor's the manicurist designed a striped nail look that mimics the multicolored, layered jewelry of the Maasai people, giving each model her own unique combination. Prabal Gurung was about the two worlds of East meets West so the nail artist selected a pale yellow shade and added white shapes. "Each shape mimics the artistic curve of a brush stroke, and the unique color combination gives the feminine silhouettes a sporty edge.” For Phillip Lim's 10th anniversary, Sally Hansen added a stripe to honor his decade of style.

Art Hearts Fashion #NYFW Recap

Seeing all the gorgeous designs from the big names is great but I also enjoy seeing up and coming designers on display during New York Fashion Week. Art Hearts Fashion showcased 5 designers at the Vanderbilt Hall this season presented by AIDS Healthcare Foundation in association with FTL Moda. With a name like Mister Triple X what else could you expect? The first designer definitely got the party started with leather & metallic sexy pieces with their signature bunny ears.

My September Birchbox

This month's Birchbox was in celebration of their birthday. "This month, we're celebrating you, our amazing subscribers. You're the reason we dreamed up Birchbox five years ago." The box was even inspired by fellow subscriber's mood boards. There were lots of bonuses in this month's box along with great brands I love. Here's what I received:

My First Vineyard Experience

This weekend was a lot of firsts for me. My first time in Long Island, my first time taking the LIRR, and my first time at a vineyard. Nicole invited me to her birthday wine tour in Long Island and I thought it would be a fun opportunity to do something I've never done before. I'm not a drinker so you wouldn't find me on a vineyard but I had a really great time.

Malan Breton Spring 2016 Runway Show

Malan Breton's Spring/Summer collection was titled "Reflections of Sun Moon Lake." Malan partnered with his home country of Taiwan to drawing inspiration. "The collection will incorporate traditional Taiwanese dying techniques, embroideries, silks, and fibers that will bring this eastern inspired collection into a modern western silhouette." There were traditional looking pieces as well as modern pieces. Here are some of my favorite looks:

My September Julep Maven Box

Julep really crammed it all in there

This month's Julep Maven box was "inspired by London’s fall runways, we’re leaning on lipstick this month for a strong point-of-view." There were plenty of fall shades to choose from. Here's what I received:

Daniel Silverstain Spring/Summer 2016 Collection

New York Fashion Week officially starts today. But presentations have already begun. Yesterday I checked out Daniel Silverstain's Spring/Summer 2016 Collection. For the collection Daniel drew inspiration from "the impressive dimensions of modern decors and innovative architecture that reshaped the city of Montreal. The color pallet of the season is built on neutral hues with contrast shapes of primary colors, representing national flags. Lace and crochet textiles are coated in metallic gloss, and intricate multi-yarn jacquards are mixed with natural wovens – creating soft and relaxed silhouettes."

DIY: #IDFWU Clutch

We all know and love the hashtag #IDFWU from Big Sean's hit song. I've been wanting a clutch with the hashtag but had no luck. So what do you... DIY! I followed a similar method to my Popbasic DIY clutch. Here's what you'll need:

#KeriandKimTakeChicago Recap

Couldn't resist making the hashtag since we're K sisters. If you hadn't notice, I went to Chicago for a few days with my sister. She was going for a work conference and I decided to take along since we both had never been to the windy city before. It was still hot and muggy like in New York City but it's better than going in the middle of winter. We were impressed with how nicely laid out and clean the city was. We loved all the bridges and architecture in the city. Great place to be inspired! We didn't get our picture in front of "The Bean" unfortunately, but here's what we did get to do:

Drugstore Beauty Reviews

Drugstore Beauty Reviews
I've been lagging on my beauty reviews but I only have one face so there's only so much I can review at a time. Some of these items I've had for awhile and have been meaning to try, others I've been using and been meaning to share my thoughts. Hopefully you find something useful. So let's get to it, shall we?
