In honor of Nicole Richie's show "Candidly Nicole" returning to VH1, Birchbox had a special guest editor box featuring Nicole herself. I couldn't pass up a box from Nicole Richie! Love her. (Although the regular Birchbox box was SUPER cute too #tempting). Her show is hilarious so of course the card included some fun words from Nicole herself. Here's what was inside:
St. Tropez Gradual Tan In-Shower Lotion (1.6 fl oz/6.7 fl oz $25) | dr. brandt® microdermabrasion skin exfoliant (.25 oz/2 oz $78) | LAQA & Co. Cheeky Lip Pencil in Humble Brag (.03 oz/full size $22) | René Furterer LISSEA Leave-in Smoothing Fluid (.5 fl oz/4.2 fl oz $31) | OPI Venice Collection sample nail polish (.8 oz/full size $9.50)
"Designed to mimic the transformative brightening, smoothing effects of the popular in-office microdermabrasion treatment at home. It enables better absorption of skincare products an at home alternative to professional, clinical treatments and helps diminish the appearance of fine lines, acne marks, and skin discolorations." The texture reminded me of Kate Somerville ExfoliKate. I only used it once and will probably only get one more use out of this sample. I did enjoy the results but not wouldn't pay $78.
I received this in my Sephora Sun Safety Kit and honestly had no idea what to do with it lol. It is a bit of a weird concept since you're supposed to shower, turn shower off & apply then wait 3 minutes and wash off in the shower. If I end up giving it a try I'll report back with results. In the meantime, I enjoy my Jergens for my "glow."
I've received a LAQA lip pencil in my Birchbox before and still use it. Get lots of compliments on the bright color. This one is meant for lips and cheeks so thankfully it's a little more "humble." "Humble Brag" is a pinkish rose color that works great on my skin tone. As Nicole says: "Let your lips do the bragging - humbly. No on likes arrogant lips."
Not a very attractive name "leave in fluid" lol but it was nice to see a new product/brand that I haven't heard of. "A smoothing and nourishing fluid that protects hair from the damage of heat styling and provides anti-humidity protection." Always put a heat protectant on your hair before using any heating tools such as blow drying or curling iron. I liked this product but I also don't use a lot of heating tools so I'm good with my $5 heat protectant spray.
I didn't even know what color this OPI nail polish was because it doesn't come on the small samples but I'm guessing that it's "Amore at the Grand Canal" since it's the darker red. Nicole included them because "they will inspire you to travel!" It's a pretty color but more Fall for me so you'll be seeing this in a few months I'm sure.
What did you receive in your Birchbox this month?
