My July Beauty Product Favorites (And Not So Favorite)

It's the end of the month and that means it's time to round up some of the products I've been loving and not loving. Unfortunately, there were more not so favorites this month but I guess you can't win them all. Let's start with the good:

Gone to Cali

Today I'm headed to California for a jam packed family weekend. We'll be celebrating Liam's 1st birthday Saturday, my 30th birthday (which is technically Monday) and my oldest nephew Jacob (aka my birthday twin) will be turning 7! It's a short trip so hopefully you won't miss me too much but I thought I'd remind you of some of the travel posts I've featured on the blog while I'm gone:

What Podcasts I Listen To

It's the year of podcasts! So happy this medium has taken off because in a world where we need everything so instantaneous and only read headlines, it is hard to imagine long form content would become so wildly popular. But it has... giving me hope. Now there are podcasts about everything you can imagine. For this list, I'll stick to the podcasts I listen to on a consistent, weekly basis. It's a mix of politics, comedy & interviews so hopefully you find a new one to enjoy!

The Blog Turns 6!

Today is the SIX year Blogiversary of I Have A Degree In This! So crazy to me. I thank you all for continuing to read and support my blog all these years. I started this blog in college (hence the name) so since then I have achieved TWO degrees - a Bachelors and most recently a Masters. The blog has also changed and evolved over the years like many do because we the authors change.

My #NSale Purchases

Nordstrom's anniversary sale is going on and it is always a big blowout (unlike Amazon's Prime Day). I was definitely eyeing up a few trends and basics in my purchases. But I also tried to limit myself since I also had a lot of birthday shopping to do for my family. I only ended up with 4 things (which all miraculously fit!) but are all great staples:

Negative Space Manicure

Wearing: Knuckle rings and knuckle flash tattoos via Urban Outfitters

I've been seeing the negative space manicures on the runways and Pinterest. It seems like a great option if you don't know which nail color you want to wear. I used Essie's Mint Candy Apple & Butler Please but can definitely get into more of a color blocking look.

Would you give this manicure a try?

7 '90s Movies Every Fashionista Should Watch

Sunday was Clueless's 20th anniversary (terrifying!) so I re-watched it. While watching, it was amazing to see the fashions of that movie are now hanging in the windows of stores like H&M today. Many of which I want to recreate and have. This got me thinking about other great movies with fashion moments that you fashionistas could take some inspiration from since '90s are having a moment. Here's my list:

July TV Reviews

Another round up of what I'm watching this month! Glad you all enjoy TV as much as I do. From June, I'm still watching all the shows except I put True Detective on hold a bit so I can binge a few episodes at a time. It's slow moving so I enjoy watching it that way. I know some people are not fans of the new cast or new everything.

My July Birchbox

This month's Birchbox theme was all about being bold. As evident by the neon aztec print box. "Summer is not the time to hold back. It's the season of wearing brights on brights on brights... Accordingly, what better time to dial up your beauty routine a notch (or three)?" There were definitely some items in here to make my look more bold. I liked this box because there were some new products I hadn't tried before. It can get repetitive with these subscriptions. Here's what I received:

Review: Julep's Your Cuticles Look Thirsty Cuticle Crème

In this month's Julep Maven box I received their new cuticle creme adorably named "Your Cuticles Look Thirsty." For non-mavens it will run you $20. I had only used it a few times when I reviewed the box so wanted to give a more in-depth review since I know we're all in a quest to quench our cuticle's thirst.

#ManiMonday: Eyelash Nails

I've been seeing this nail art design all over Pinterest and finally got around to trying it. It is super simple. All you need is a Sharpie! Or a nail art pen if you're more skilled. It's a fun way to add whim to your plain manicure. Still wearing Julep's Brittany from my Julep Maven box this month.

What are you wearing on your nails?

My July Julep Maven Box

This month's Julep Maven box was inspired by Palm Dessert. Surprised there weren't any July 4th themed colors or add-ons. Julep usually goes all out around the holidays. Anyways... the big item in the box was their new shower cleansing oil. I selected the Modern Beauty Box and added on the other items I wanted, which is the beauty of Julep. Here's what was inside:

Vegan Lemon Bars

Today my company had a potluck. I decided to try vegan lemon bars since I love lemon bars in the summer. The recipe called for a lot of lemon so I had to play around with the mixture. Not bad for my first attempt. My co-workers ate it so that is impressive!

Movie Review: Magic Mike XXL

GLORIOUS! Go see it.

That's it. That's all the review should be of this movie. I don't know why there are even in-depth critical analysis of this movie. It's not trying to win an Oscar. Take it for what it is. If you enjoy highly attractive shirtless men doing choreography to Ginuwine's 'Pony' then go see it. If you don't then don't see it.

July 4th Mani

I honestly struggled with what to paint my nails for 4th of July. This is not originally what I had decided upon after browsing Pinterest for several hours lol but I do like the way it turned out.

Review: Harvey Prince Sea Salt Texturizing Mist

I promised you a review and I'm living up to it! I received a sample of Harvey Prince's Sea Salt Texturizing Mist in my May Birchbox but May felt a little early for beach waves. Now that summer is in full swing and I got a new 'do, I've been wearing the look.
