5 Blogger Picks For What to Read This Summer

Summer is the perfect time to get your reading on. Whether it's finally finishing that novel you started in the fall or indulging in a guilty pleasure, summer reads are the best imho. I asked some of my go-to book lovers to share what they're reading this summer. Here are their picks:

1. Christina of Easily Entertained - "Movie Star by Lizzie Pepper" by Hilary Liftin

Actress Lizzie Pepper was America’s Girl Next Door and her marriage to Hollywood mega-star Rob Mars was tabloid gold—a whirlwind romance and an elaborate celebrity-studded wedding landed them on the cover of every celebrity weekly. But fame, beauty, and wealth weren’t enough to keep their marriage together. From her lonely holidays in sumptuous villas to her husband’s deep commitment to a disconcertingly repressive mind-body group, the Hollywood "It" couple are over and now Lizzie is going to tell her side of the story.

"The premise of this book sounds similar to the relationship of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise. I love reading about the entertainment industry and celebrities, and biographies are my favorite, so this mindless beach read is right up my alley!"

2. Gracey of Fashion for Giants - "Chanel Bonfire" by Wendy Lawless

"This is the perfect beach read and I can't wait to read it. For one, the mother in this memoir has been described as a 'real-life Holly Golightly.' And the book itself has been described as a 'searing memoir that reads like a novel.' Fabulous, no?!"

3. Alison of Wardrobe Oxygen - "The Status of All Things" by Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke

"As a blogger and a lover of social media this book intrigues me. The protagonist's life mirrors whatever she makes her Facebook status and it sounds as though it will be a fun read while lounging at the pool or on the back deck!"

4. Nnenna of Star-Crossed Smile - "The Royal We" by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan

"I just read it and I think it would make an excellent beach read! You don't have to be a huge fan of the royal family to enjoy this fun novel inspired by their lives. It's the story of Bex, a regular American, who meets and falls in love with the Prince of England. I found myself chuckling out loud at certain bits and the whole cast of characters is great. I thought this book was light and fun - the perfect summer read."

5. Kerry of Till Then, Smile Often - "Does This Beach Make Me Look Fat" by Lisa Scottoline and Francesca Serritella

"This is a mother daughter duo that shares short stories, anecdotes and confessions written in a way that you feel like you are with your best friend. The quick chapters make for a book easy to pick up or put down in between beach sessions. It's light enough that you don't have to think too hard in case you get caught people watching. I know I'll have a margarita in one hand and this book in the other this summer."

Bonus - My Pick! "Conflicting Websby Darlene Quinn

I'm finally finishing up books I've been trying to finish for months (stay tuned) so I can start focusing on my summer reading. First on my list is Darlene Quinn's new book which is described as a "an intense story full of intrigue, questionable motives, and unforgettable characters." Sounds like it will hold my interest while I lounge by the pool or beach.

What are you reading this summer?
