I wear my hair up almost every day. I'm a low maintenance gal when it comes to my hair so throwing it up is the simplest thing for me. I love me a good top knot. But lately I've noticed a thinning around my hairline. EEK! I've avoided rubber bands which can tie your hair too tight and break your hair by pinching it and now use ribbon ties. However, over time, tying your hair up will put too much strain on the thinnest pair of your hair, around your face (Source), causing thinning or worse... balding. So what's a girl to do?
There are vitamins on the market that supposedly help repair and stimulate hair growth. Another trick I've read is massaging your scalp as it encourages hair follicles to grow. But from the experts the best thing you can do is give your hair a break. I've been trying to wear it down more than ever have, which is especially going to be hard as the summer months hit. I personally avoid heating tools like blow dryers and let my hair dry overnight so I have that advantage. But it's not enough. I am also trying to eat these 10 super foods for your hair so hopefully it can keep my follicles strong. And if I must wear my hair up, I'm trying to opt for a low ponytail or half updo.
Just wanted to share in case you were also committing this cardinal sin of hair care. And if you won't take my advice then maybe you'll take it from Derek Zoolander:
