My April Beauty Product Favorites (And Not So Favorite)

This month has been a tricky one here in New York City. One weekend it's 70 degrees and I'm eating ice cream. The next it's snowing! Usually Spring is the time to put away your winter essentials and get out the self tanner. But not this spring. So this month's favorites include a mix of products that you could use in warm or cold weather.

#DatingGirl: 10 Things I Learned From @Bethenny Frankel's New Book

I am not exactly one to read dating advice books. However, I am a fan of Bethenny Frankel. She's been through some drama recently so I thought her new book I Suck at Relationships So You Don't Have To: 10 Rules for Not Screwing Up Your Happily Ever After would offer good insights since I relate to many of her flaws. Check out my review on Midtown Girl!

Movies I've Watched Recently

The Tribeca Film Festival is currently running in New York. It's a great festival where a parade of films premiere. Many are even available on demand (like iTunes or Amazon) while playing at the festival. I've tuned into a few so thought I'd share my reviews:

Dangers of Wearing Your Hair Up

I wear my hair up almost every day. I'm a low maintenance gal when it comes to my hair so throwing it up is the simplest thing for me. I love me a good top knot. But lately I've noticed a thinning around my hairline. EEK! I've avoided rubber bands which can tie your hair too tight and break your hair by pinching it and now use ribbon ties. However, over time, tying your hair up will put too much strain on the thinnest pair of your hair, around your face (Source), causing thinning or worse... balding. So what's a girl to do?

#Throwback: Albums My Sister Introduced to Me

My super cool sister and her BFF Nora
Having an older sibling has many benefits. One being introducing you to Parental Advisory music. She is 3 years older so she had access to cooler music than me. When we got together during my grandma's funeral we got on the topic of our first albums. She grew up loving New Kids on the Block while my first cassettes (yes... there were such things before CDs) were Meatloaf and Michael Jackson. Then when she got to high school, I very vividly remember her albums because I wasn't supposed to listen to that music. Scandal! So many of the albums hold up today and are oddly "throwbacks" which makes us feel super old.

#DatingGirl: Why I Didn’t Renew My Match Membership

At the beginning of ‘Dating Girl’ I made the investment of a 6-month membership to Match.com. As some of you may know, that’s where Amy met her lovely Midtown Chap. She also graciously helped me fill out my profile and pick photos. I’ve heard stories of people meeting great guys there so I figured the investment was in me and my potential future with someone. However, I found myself disappointed and dateless at the end of 6 months. Read the full story on Midtown Girl today.

Put Down the Sticks! Try Deodorant Wipes

Original image via

There are all these reports about the dangers of antiperspirant. I've tried several organic, all-natural deodorants but let's be honest... you can smell the difference. Spray deodorants promise that it will spray on dry unlike sticks which can leave white residue and ruin clothes. However, aerosol cans are terrible for the environment. What's a girl to do?! Pacifica's Underarm Deodorant Wipes!

Another month, another roll out of new TV shows! April we saw the return of some of my favorite shows - Game of Thrones, Veep, Louie and Mad Men along with some newbs. From last month's premieres, I'm still tuning into Last Man on Earth which is definitely not the same show it was episode one. I finished Kimmy Schmidt and House of Cards! Drugstore Dupe: Clinique vs New York Color

I love discovering a drugstore dupe. However, the downside for a cheaper price is a lower quality product. Not so with this drugstore dupe! Clinique's chubby sticks are best sellers and for good reason. Their Chubby Stick Shadow Tint For Eyes costs $17. Well New York Color is giving them a run for my money with their City Proof 24 HR Waterproof Eye Shadow, which costs $2.99! That's right, less than $3! Both come in 12 shades so let's see how they stack up:

#ManiMonday: Easter Edition

I was inspired by the Whoppers Robin's Eggs candy I got for my nephews. I used my new favorite polish - JINSoon's Doux and spotted my nails with Julep's Lulu and Essie's Penny Talk. The hardest part was resisting the candy!
