After reading POPSUGAR's list of iconic beauty products to try I've been on a one woman mission to try the ones I haven't. First was the Dr. Jart+ BB Bounce Beauty Balm, last week was another doctor, Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare™Alpha Beta® Peel and this week is Hourglass's Veil Mineral Primer (.3 fl oz $18).
It claims: "This silky, weightless and multipurpose primer goes beyond traditional formulations by concealing redness, minimizing the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles, and shielding skin with Broad Spectrum SPF 15 protection. In addition, it repels water to keep your make up looking freshly applied all day long." It is also vegan-friendly, paraben and sulfate free.
reviewed several primers on this blog before and let me say this is definitely a top contender. It combines the feel of a mineral sunscreen like DHC's and the slickness of Laura Geller's Spackle primer. It goes on quite white so you need to let a few minutes pass so it sinks into your skin. But it leaves your skin looking even and minimizes redness (which I need). It is very lightweight and helps makeup last all day. I do want to see how it holds up in the scorching hot summer temperatures (i.e. sweat proof) since supposedly you can wear this in the water. Also, SPF 15 is NOT enough so be sure you also wear sunscreen. But overall, A+! I will definitely be buying more of this once I run out.
