My Halloween Mani

Excuse my dried out cuticles

I decided to go with a haunting manicure for this Halloween. I used Kiss's Nail Art Set in Black Magic from their Disney Good vs Evil collection (obviously... I chose the Evil one.) For $10 you get an amazing of nail art goodness including glitter, stones, brushes and tape. I layered the black/purple glitter on top of Julep's Kim (because of course) and added Evil to the thumbnail.

Trend I'm Currently Craving: Bodysuits

Trend I'm Currently Craving: Bodysuits
Featuring: Jamaika String Bodysuit via Wolford $195 // Fine Tricot Bodysuit via American Apparel $40

Adding to the list of '90s trends I'm craving - bodysuits. Coming from the '80s where workout wear was the norm, the bodysuit transitioned from Olivia Newton-John's "Let's Get Physical" to the off-duty look of supermodels in mom jeans like Cindy Crawford's Pepsi commercial.

MMG: (Insert Title Here)

Image via
I should start calling these posts "Kim watches a lot of TV." The weekend is really my time to catch up on my shows so that's mostly what I have to talk about (sorry!). Gilmore Girls was released on Netflix earlier this month and I've been binge watching. Finished re-watching Season 1. Really miss the show. The rest of the weekend was the usual. I did shop for my Halloween outfit though because my office decided we should all dress up. Pressure's on!

Year of Veganism

I like to think of this blog as a personal one so I like to step away from the fashion to discuss personal things. I'd like to talk about my journey towards veganism as you may be considering it yourself. I know reading other people's journeys helped me. For those who may be not be aware, a vegan is someone who does not eat any animal products (meat and dairy). It may sound like an impossible task but it's actually easier to than you may think. My journey began unconsciously. I didn't say "Today I'm going to be a vegan!" However, it is something I've wanted to do but thought it was too difficult to do it. It was even on my list of 26 Things To Do By 27. 29 is close enough, right?

My October GLOSSYBOX

This month's GLOSSYBOX was centered around date night. They sent us GLOSSYBOX bloggers a few items in advanced, which I have been enjoying. They included a lot of full-sized products which is always appreciated. Here's what I received:

MMG: Off-Broadway Shows & Halloween Candy

This final class is going to be the death of me. Not to be dramatic but it's a lot of work let alone having a full-time job. I really just wanted to not think about it because I'm mentally exhausted. Friday night I came home to my copy of #Newsfail. The authors are from my favorite podcast, Citizen Radio. They're listen supported (i.e. no sponsors) and I've been supporting the podcast for 4 years so it's great to see them achieve such success. Stay tuned for a full review! Sunday I took a break from homework to get crafty and make Halloween goodie boxes for my nephews since Auntie Kim is on the other side of the country.

My Trick For Making Mascara Last Day All

A pet peeve for all women is their mascara flaking and smudging by the end of the day. I know I struggled with this for awhile. I played with mascaras and tricks and finally settled on a routine that works for me. I think part of it is the formula of the mascara you choose and part the application. As mascara can be very personal and every woman has a formula that works for her, I'm going to talk about application. Here's what I do:

5 Beauty Products Benefitting Breast Cancer

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We all see the pink ribbons and pink limited edition products benefitting the cause, but we can't forget to take steps to protect ourselves. 1 in 8 US women will be affected by breast cancer in their lifetime. During NBCAM, everyone is encouraged to educate themselves about symptoms and how to detect it early. Educate yourself! Here are five beauty products benefitting the cause:

My October Birchbox

This month's Birchbox theme was Fanfare. "Whether you're excited about blockbuster season, geeking out about fall TV premieres, or searching for a new soundtrack, everyone has a fan in them." I can definitely relate to this month's theme as a major TV addict. Here's what I received:

MMG: Catching Up

Friday night after work I headed to campus to a workshop about P&L statements. I lead such an exciting life... I know. This weekend was pretty cold and rainy so I was happy to stay snuggled up inside. Saturday I was so excited to have Bill Hader back at SNL. He was one of my favorites. He did an amazing job. STEFON! Need to see his movie with Kristen Wiig, The Skeleton TwinsASAP!

DIY: Chic Glitter Pumpkins

Growing up we always decorate our pumpkins or carve out cool designs. As adults we kind of lose that fun. I always see such adorable pumpkins on Pinterest and want to do them but in the back of my head think it must be a pain. Well this season I took on the challenge! I created two different options on two different types of pumpkins both involving glitter (because of course). It does get messy so I recommend setting up an area you don't mind glitter being. All the tutorials were different so I think go with what items you have available to you. Here's what I did:

Getting My Hair Ready For Fall With Dove

The colder temperatures can brutal on hair. It can dry out or get weighed down by the products we add to help keep it nourished. Dove's Pure Care Dry Oil collection to the rescue! Women crave beautiful, silky hair but don’t want it weighed down by heavy products that claim to nourish and add shine. I always suffer with this problem. The Dove Pure Care Dry Oil collection is ideal for all hair types and will make your hair feel silkier after just one wash. I gave it a try and loved the results:

My October Julep Maven Box

Loved the "Black Magic" theme of the October Julep Maven box. I opted for the beauty box since I wanted the mask and added on some polishes. Although one of the items was missing when my box arrived. I also went crazy with the add-ons lol. Here's what I received:

MMG: Funny Ladies & Brunch

Sorry, I try to come up with clever names. This weekend it dropped down to the 50s and definitely signaled fall was here. October is my favorite month - fall weather, cozy sweaters, smell of pumpkins, leaves changing and my favorite holiday, Halloween! This weekend I watched two funny ladies that I'm a fan of. First, I finally got to see Jenny Slate's movie Obvious Child. It was a charming indie rom-com (i.e. slightly mocking rom-coms) that broached a heavy topic. If you're okay with the subject matter then I recommend it. Sarah Silverman hosted SNL this week. I liked the tribute to Joan Rivers, no one else could do it except Sarah (or Kathy Griffin). My favorite skit was short-lived soap opera "Supportive Women" lol it's exactly what it sounds like (i.e. the opposite of The Real Housewives).

5 Reasons I Want to Be A Rapper

Immediately thought of Andy Samberg's Blizzard Man when writing this post lol

My dream career in another life would be a rapper. I have no skills other than my ability to rhyme words and fly style. No street cred. No knowledge of the music industry. No 'Cinderella' story. They just have a super awesome life. Here are 5 reasons I want to be a rapper:

DIY: NYC Hand-Painted Leather Clutch

Before - very elegant and simple

When I got my Popbasic Paloma clutch, I knew immediately I wanted to add some flare to it. I had been seeing the cool embossed Zara clutches with fun phrases. I kind of wanted a more New York vibe to mine. Here's what I did:
