Review: Liz Earle's Gentle Face Exfoliator™

Last Friday I had the privilege of attending a breakfast with Liz Earle hosted by Birchbox at their headquarters. Dana Kline, Global Ambassador of Liz Earle, spoke with us about the company and their philosophy around beauty. A popular brand in the UK, Liz Earle launched their best seller Cleanse & Polish™ through Birchbox for their entry into the US market (which I got to try in my October box last year). I highly recommend it for all skin types. They also graciously sent us home with some more lovely products to try including their Gentle Face Exfoliator™.

All of Liz Earle's products contain natural ingredients and smell wonderful but not overly fragrant. They take great pride in their products and meticulously test the product for several years before launching. Typically a product takes 5 years to bring to market. This exfoliator contains jojoba beads that gently buff away dead skin cells, eucalyptus oil to help purify the skin, as well as cocoa butter and sweet almond oil to leave your skin soft and moisturized. Dana recommended using the face exfoliator once a week to avoid irritating the skin since it does contain jojoba beads for a deeper clean. I didn't find the beads overly harsh my sensitive skin and it left my skin feeling smooth. Also, when I exfoliate I feel like most products tend to leave your skin feeling tight or dry. That didn't happen with this exfoliator at all.

At the breakfast we also asked about the difference between American women and UK women in terms of their beauty routine. She said that the UK women are more willing to try an array of products, they're not very brand loyal and they care more about skincare than makeup products. American women tend to over treat a skincare issues with harsh products and we have also been slow to adopting oils. I know I'm still having trouble convincing women I know to use oil products.

Liz Earle's Gentle Face Exfoliator™ is available on their website for $24 (2.3 fl oz pump) or you can search their other products on Birchbox.com.

Would you give Liz Earle a try?
