Don't Believe the Hype: BB Creams Edition

As a girl who doesn't wear heavy makeup on a daily basis I've fallen in love with BB creams. They're like a tinted moisturizer with SPF that helps even your skin tone and hide imperfections. They originated in Asia where they were a much heavier product; however, when American beauty companies marketed it to US consumers they made them more like tinted moisturizers. I'm okay with either one. I did a major round up of BB creams in the past but I thought I would share the ones that I wasn't a big fan of since I have more to add:

Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm Broad Spectrum SPF 20 ($34 1.18 oz) - It only comes in one shade, which is super dark (at least for me) and it did nothing to even out my skintone or minimize imperfections. And to top it off, mine smelled horrendously! I purchased it at Sephora so not sure why it would be a bad formula. I checked with other beauty bloggers and they didn't have the same issue. Definitely felt like I wasted $34.

L'Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream $10.95 - This is one of those "goes on white turns darker" once applied type of foundations that I'm not particularly a fan of. The Light color was too dark for me and it didn't even out my skintone like most BB creams promise. Read my original review here.

Revlon PhotoReady BB Cream™ Skin Perfector SPF 30 ($10.99 1 oz) - My skin had a bad reaction to this product. I've used Revlon foundations before so not sure if it was the SPF part or just the formula. It also did nothing for my skin. A primer would have done more. Original review here.

Julep DD Creme ($36 1 oz) - I don't really buy this whole CC, DD, EE trend. This DD creme did nothing for me. Also, the "Light" was at least two shades too dark for me. You can read my original review.

  2. I'm soooo done with the BB creams that aren't Asian LOL I just don't think these brands can compare with the real BB creams. And they're taking it too far with the CC and DD creams like now we're just talking bra sizes. My favourites are the Holika Holika Petit BB creams and Etude House BB creams.
