April Beauty Product Favorites & Not So Favorite

This month has been a tricky one here in New York City. One weekend it's 70 degrees and beautiful then Tuesday it's snowing. Usually Spring is the time to put away your winter essentials and get out the self tanner. But not this spring. So this month's favorites include a mix of products that you could use in warm or cold weather.

MMG: Good Times

Friday I met up with my boo Nicole whom I haven't seen in over a month! We went to this adorable tea place Alice's Tea Cup on the Upper West Side where we enjoyed scones and tea. We were celebrating the awesome news that her clothing company, MyTee B.A.D., was featured on the Elvis Duran show as "What's Trending" - so proud of her! (P.S. You can use the code BGKIM15 to get 15% off).

My Oil Pulling Experience

I have been seeing a lot of articles about "oil pulling." The name kind of scared me until I read Clear the Way Kate's experience with it. She eased any worries I had. Oil pulling has been around thousands of years and basically you swish around oil in your mouth to remove harmful bacteria. It's like using mouthwash but with supposedly better results. It is recommended to use coconut oil since a) it tastes better than other oils and b) because the lauric acid is more effective.

MMG: Happy Easter

Hope everyone who celebrates had a great Easter weekend! My parents came in Saturday to help me hang my curtains. My apartment looks like a real home now! Saturday night I found Purple Rain playing on VH1 and my night was made. I haven't watched it in years but the soundtrack is one of the greatest soundtracks of all time. Forgot what heavy topics it deals with so probably shouldn't have been watching it at 10.

My April Birchbox

This month's Birchbox theme was "Rainy Days" which we are having plenty of here in New York City. "April showers may bring May flowers, but they're also a blissful excuse to stay tucked inside, doing all those things that fall by the wayside when it's glorious outside. This month, we're embracing that rainy-day mentality..." Here's what I received:

Review: Liz Earle's Gentle Face Exfoliator™

Last Friday I had the privilege of attending a breakfast with Liz Earle hosted by Birchbox at their headquarters. Dana Kline, Global Ambassador of Liz Earle, spoke with us about the company and their philosophy around beauty. A popular brand in the UK, Liz Earle launched their best seller Cleanse & Polish™ through Birchbox for their entry into the US market (which I got to try in my October box last year). I highly recommend it for all skin types. They also graciously sent us home with some more lovely products to try including their Gentle Face Exfoliator™.

MMG: April Showers

This weekend I headed down to Jersey for an event filled weekend - showers! (See what I did there?) This weekend was my sister's best friend since kindergarten, Nora's, bridal shower so my sister, Keri (in the stripes), flew in from California. It was great to have some time with her this weekend since I haven't seen her since Christmas. I got tons of compliments on my Majestical Jewelry necklace! They have great pieces at affordable prices. Take 20% off with code "TWENTYOFFNOW."

Movie Review: Bruce Springsteen's 'High Hopes'

On Friday, HBO premiered the documentary Bruce Springsteen's "High Hopes", which followed Bruce behind the scenes during the making of his 18th studio album. It features rare footage with exclusive E Street Band tour footage and revealing interviews with Springsteen and album collaborator Tom Morello, guitarist for Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave. I grew up in New Jersey and when you live there you are basically bred to be a Bruce (a.k.a. The Boss) fan. Even if I didn't live there, I'd still be a fan of his music. I love it all!

Don't Believe the Hype: BB Creams Edition

As a girl who doesn't wear heavy makeup on a daily basis I've fallen in love with BB creams. They're like a tinted moisturizer with SPF that helps even your skin tone and hide imperfections. They originated in Asia where they were a much heavier product; however, when American beauty companies marketed it to US consumers they made them more like tinted moisturizers. I'm okay with either one. I did a major round up of BB creams in the past but I thought I would share the ones that I wasn't a big fan of since I have more to add:

MMG: The Return of Great TV!

Many months of anticipation have led up to this weekend! Games of Thrones Season 4! I ordered me some cookies and hunkered down for the glorious return of one of my favorite shows (and one of the best shows if I say so myself). Spoiler alert (well it's not really a spoiler since the books have been out for years) but this season is going to be bloody. I'm excited for the badass ladies, Arya and Khaleesi, to start fucking shit up.

Don't Believe the Hype: Shampoo Edition

It's time to talk hair! For the latest installment of "Don't Believe the Hype" I'm talking shampoos, conditioners and dry shampoo. Sidenote: I have medium/thin, straight hair so this is from my point of view. If you have other types of hair then my opinions may not apply. Here are products that have failed me:

Music festival season is here! Coachella is next weekend but sadly I will be missing out. Even though I am not attending I can still dream about music festival fashion.
