Don't Believe the Hype: Mascara Edition

Last week was the first installment of "Don't Believe the Hype" and seems like everyone is excited for this feature. Hooray! I'm continuing this week with mascaras! I'm a big mascara girl. 3 makeup items I don't leave the house without: concealer, lip balm and mascara. I have found a balance between daytime and nighttime mascaras. Most of the mascaras on this list are about voluminous lashes:

Dior's Diorshow Mascara $25 - Gasp! I know... this mascara gets so much love. I finally took the plunge and was sadly disappointed. I did layer it on top of a mascara that separated lashes but that's not worth 25 bucks.

Julep Volumizing Mascara $24 - Julep's beauty products have been hit or miss. This mascara was definitely a miss for me. I wasn't a fan of the brush or the results. See my review here.

AVON Mega Effects Mascara $10 - The application is unlike any other mascara I've tried so perhaps I just don't have the skills but I didn't notice any "mega" effects after using. It was also a little terrifying to hold near your eye.

Maybelline Volum' Express® Falsies Big Eyes Mascara $9.49 - Maybelline is my go-to brand for mascaras so I was shocked by the lack luster results. Originally reviewed here.

ModelCo Fibre Lashxtend Extreme Black Lengthening Mascara - Womp womp. Originally reviewed in my POPSUGAR Must Have Box.

mark. Scanda-lash Mascara $6.50 - Great travel size but that's about all I can truly say about this mascara. Originally reviewed in my Beauty Army Kit.

tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes™ Statement Mascara $23 - Really had high hopes for this mascara but saw no real results. Originally reviewed in my Glossybox.

  1. i've never been a mascara fan. i only use it from time to time or for special occasions. BUT I do like the Too Faced sample mascara that I got from an event that I went too. I also learned applying tricks from the gal who is doing my wedding day make-up. As she was applying she was teaching me how I can do it to myself too...which was awesome since never really was taught how to apply mascara lol as some mascaras that I have tried feel way to heavy or irate my eyes (even when I wipe away the excess from the lashes).

  2. Great post! Mascara is so hard for me. I really only like two or three and the rest are terrible.

  3. I wish I could be taught how to wear mascara! LOL! I've never worn it right plus it doesn't help I very light and small eyelashes!

  5. I love the honesty! It's really hard to find a good mascara so this saves us all a lot of time and money!

  6. @jointhegossip lol thanks :) Yes it is. That's why I like to use drugstore brands to test out the style because they're a little bit cheaper

  7. @ElleSees.blogspot.com I think it all depends on your lashes because I didn't get the hype about Dior whatsoever lol
