MMG: Happy Spring?

Spring was officially on the calendar last week but since then we've had freezing temps and snow. Happy Spring? I'd like to put away my winter coat in April please! Saturday was pouring so any motivation went out the window. I did laundry while watching the Elite 8 of March Madness. None of the teams I wanted to win are in the Final Four. Womp Womp.

My Spring FabFitFun VIP Box

I really enjoyed my Winter FabFitFun VIPbox so was excited to have the opportunity to review their spring box! P.S. For anyone keeping track of my box subscriptions. I cancelled my POPSUGAR Must Have Box because the value wasn't worth the cost anymore. So far FFF's boxes have been worth the $49.99 subscription per season (not monthly so your wallet gets a break). Here's what was inside:

Don't Believe the Hype: Mascara Edition

Last week was the first installment of "Don't Believe the Hype" and seems like everyone is excited for this feature. Hooray! I'm continuing this week with mascaras! I'm a big mascara girl. 3 makeup items I don't leave the house without: concealer, lip balm and mascara. I have found a balance between daytime and nighttime mascaras. Most of the mascaras on this list are about voluminous lashes:

#DatingGirl: Dating Lessons From HBO's Girls

Love it or hate it, HBO's Girls is a highly talked about show. At least in my Twitter feed. If you take it with a grain of salt then it can be an entertaining show. I wouldn't want to be friends with any of the girls on the show though lol. During the finale (aired this Sunday) there were a lot of bad dating habits going on so I decided to blog about it for my latest installment of Dating Girl. Check it out!

My Favorite TV Couples

We love them! We root for them. Will they or won't they? TV couples having kept audiences watching every week for years. Some of them even actually become real couples - congrats Mila and Ashton! I know I have my favorites but for the sake of this list I'm going to stick with shows currently on the air (otherwise this could go on forever!).

Currently Craving: Baseball Tees

With Spring here (although it doesn't feel like it), I am craving spring fashion and activities including baseball. One of my favorite items is the baseball tee. Definitely a must-have for any chic tomboy's wardrobe and I'm happy to see they are back in style. I just picked up this burnout tee from the GAP and love it!

MMG: March Madness

Image via Twitter

March Madness is in full swing! And for those who don't know what that is lol it's the time of year when there's college basketball on 24/7. It's the "playoffs" on super speed and is a lot of fun unless you fill out brackets and bet money then you're most likely very upset right now. A lot of upsets (and upset fans) but that's the beauty of March "madness"!

My Mini Nail Polish Haul

HauteLook recently had an OPI sale on their site. $3 nail polish, how could I resist? I tried to control myself so I only purchased two polishes and both were very spring. "Casting Call" is a rosy purple in my opinion that I think makes a great neutral polish. Whereas "I'm Wired" is a bright coral color that stands out more. It's currently on my nails:

Don't Believe the Hype: Cuticle Edition

I am going to start a weekly feature "Don't Believe the Hype" about beauty products that have disappointed me. Readers often want to know if they should spend their money on certain products. I thought I'd start with cuticles because I feel like I've tried every cuticle product on the block! I really dislike the look and feel of dry cuticles so I'm constantly trying new products. Here are the ones that I wouldn't spend your dollars on:

Why I Ditched Skinny Jeans

So many women suffer for the sake of fashion. I confess I was one of them. My vice - skinny jeans. When skinny jeans hit the market, I quickly traded in my old jeans for the new style. They went with everything! You could wear them with cute flats on the weekend or dress them up with heels for an evening out. They were the answer to my wardrobe prayers. Or so I thought.

My March Birchbox

This month's Birchbox theme is Spring Forward. "We'll show you how to get more out of everything, from helping your products last longer to time-saving hair tricks. Prepare yourself - it's going to be a great spring!" And as Birchbox let me know... it's my 34th Birchbox! I decided to change my beauty profile to see if I get new products and I did. Here's what was inside:

Review: Cetaphil® Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths

Today I'm sharing my thoughts on Cetaphil's new Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths over at Blush and Beakers!

MMG: Spring Break!

This week is my Spring Break! Although it won't be much of a "break" with tons of papers and projects due next week but I took the time to enjoy my weekend. Saturday I hung out with Laura where we grabbed some dinner and I tried my first ever Pie Face. So cute! The St. Patrick's Day partying had begun early and the Empire State Building was lit up. During my breaks I like to cross shows off my "to watch list" so Sunday I started watching The Shield. It's one of those shows that is constantly talked about and the man behind my new favorite show, Sons of Anarchy, was a writer on it so I thought it was time to dive in.

Movie Review: Nebraska

I've now seen 4 of the 9 Oscar nominated Best Picture films. Woo! So far Nebraska has been my favorite. Here's a quick synopsis from Imdb - "An aging, booze-addled father makes the trip from Montana to Nebraska with his estranged son in order to claim a million-dollar Mega Sweepstakes Marketing prize." The whole cast is great but Bruce Dern and June Squibb steal the show. Very rarely are there actors over 50, let alone 80, as main characters in a movie.

You Can Be Smart And Like Fashion

In the March issue of ELLE there was an article titled "Why Can't A Smart Woman Love Fashion?" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (pictured above). It was exactly the reason I started this blog. So many people said I wouldn't be taken seriously because I liked fashion. I couldn't disagree more. As Bill Cunningham said in his documentary,

For February GLOSSYBOXwanted to show us love for the month of love. "We hope that as you receive your box, it serves as a reminder to take some time off to primp and pamper yourself." We got an exclusive sneak peek at an upcoming new nail polish line - Lauren B. Beauty. Here's what was inside:

MMG: Family Time

After a long and stressful week (as you may have noticed with the lack of posting - bad blogger!) I headed down to Jersey for some family time. It was great to see my aunt who recently had a hospital scare with her cancer. She was in good spirits. We also celebrated my cousin's birthday a little early so of course we over indulged ourselves in cake.

My March Julep Maven Box

This month's Julep Maven box was all about getting away - the Riviera collection. I chose the Core Classics box because it featured two items I would use: their top coat and oxygen nail treatment. My nails are in desperate need of Julep's Oxygen Nail Treatment. Here's what was inside:

MMG: SJP & Brunch

Saturday I headed down to Soho to check out the Nordstrom Pop-Up store for Sarah Jessica Parker's new shoe line. She would be making an appearance at the store so I stood out in the cold for an hour for a chance to meet Carrie Bradshaw only to find out you couldn't take a pic of her (let alone meet her) unless you bought a pair of shoes, which are about $400. Ridiculous! The store is beautiful and so are the shoes but I don't have the budget for that. After that heartbreak, Laura and I headed to grab some food and stumbled about Jack's Wife Freda. I opted for waffles even though it was 4 o'clock in the afternoon because I can eat breakfast anytime of the day lol.

Best & Worst Dressed at the 86th Annual Academy Awards

The Super Bowl fashion was tonight! I camped out on the couch to catch all the red carpet looks. Ellen did a great job with her opening monologue. A big trend was statement collar necklaces and the men wearing white. Here are my thoughts of some other trends on the carpet:
