Best & Worst Dressed at the 71st Annual Golden Globes

Tonight was the Golden Globes hosted once again by the fabulous Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. There was a lot of sleek, simple hairstyles on the red carpet which I found refreshing. Take out the hair extensions ladies! Here are my picks for best and worst dressed along with trends I spotted on the red carpet:

Best Dressed: Lupita Nyong'o. Now you know her name. This gorgeous woman was the star of 12 Years a Slave and shut down the red in this Ralph Lauren dress/cape. Simple yet fashionable.

Best in Black: Cate Blanchett. Ms. Cate never does me any wrong and this lace Armani Prive is no exception. Stunning.

Best Structured Gown: Emilia Clarke in Proenza Schouler. It's hard for this woman to look bad. I love the structured of this dress, which is actually made of lace. P.S. So excited for Game of Thrones!

Retro was a big trend on the carpet. Zoeey Deschanel looked her adorable self in Oscar de la Renta. Some may love or hate it but I think it suits her. Amy Adams channeled her American Hustle character in this color blocked Valentino deep V-neck. Tatiana Maslany, star of Orphan Black, was young and fresh. She's new to the carpet so I have hope she'll get better.

Bumps were all over the carpet and the ladies looked fantastic! Kerry Washington wore a simple, gray Balenciaga gown. Olivia Wilde glammed it up in a sequin green Gucci. Some may not like Drew Barrymore's Monique Lhuillier floral gown but it's Drew! She's a free spirit and I think her makeup was beautiful.

Risk Taker: Emma Watson in Dior. I like the look. She's young and it's a statement. But I know it's not for everyone.

Biggest Let Down: Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Couture. Not flattering whatsoever! We were all awaiting her arrival and this was such a let down. I hope she brings it for the Oscars.

Lena Dunham is still learning how to wear gowns but if she has friends like Zac Posen then they should help her out better than this. I barely recognized Taylor Schilling, of Orange is the New Black, with the bad makeup and hair. The dress is too simple for the occasion. And then Julia Roberts... just no.

Who were your picks for Best and Worst Dressed of the evening?

  3. By far the best dress was Lupita Nyong'o. I mean the color and the cape...how effing perfect! Also I loved Emma Watson's look! It's a total risk but it was so worth it. Not a lot of people could pull it off but she def did. I also agree with your worst dress looks. I don't know what Julia Roberts was thinking. It's so boring and like mmmm downy. Even if your not "comfortable" in dresses the designer who is making a dress for you should be able to fit you into a right dress...aka Zac Posen you failed. Also they over did it with the bronzer on Taylor Schilling. She was two different tones lol

  6. I thought Emma's outfit was perfect for her. You're right she's young and she can get away with trying new things like that. As much as people were saying Julia Roberts dress was 'blah' I have to say I actually liked it a lot. Yes, it is simple. And perhaps it is not the most appropriate for the award show but I thought she looked stunning. - Katy
