3 Trends I Will Not Be Wearing

I love fashion...really I do. But sometimes trends can go a little too far. Just because it walked down the runway doesn't mean it should be walking down the street. My biggest issue with trends is that they don't work on all women yet most women try to pull them off. We don't have to wear every single trend ladies! Pick and choose the ones that work best for you. Last year I named three trends I didn't want to see in 2013 (and that didn't work out). I'm updating with trends I wish I would stop seeing before spring 2014:

1. Overalls. Overalls are a perfect example of a trend that not many women can pull off yet way too many women are trying to. If you have a model figure (i.e. not a lot of curves), which is not the average woman's body shape then you can pull them off. One of my favorite style bloggers, StyleOntheCouch does it well! But I want to see this trend stop because it's growing into the mass market and not every girl can pull them off. A recipe for disaster!

Prada Spring 2014

2. Ugly sandals. First, it was Birkenstocks now Tevas?!  Can we stop trying to make these ugly sandals cool again? Celine, Miu Miu, Prada, Marc Jacobs everyone for some reason is trying to make ugly sandals chic. This is definitely a trend that doesn't work off the runway. I'm all for comfy shoes but adding some jewels or studs doesn't make them stylish. In the name of Fashion Police: MAKE IT STOP!

3. Patchwork denim. A trend from the hippie days that I have no idea why designers like Phillip Lim are trying to bring them back. I remember ugly patches from the Limited Too in the '90s and I'm forever scarred. Please don't start pulling out your irons and make a DIY version of these looks.

For some chic inspiration check out The Luxury Spot's round-up of street style during Milan Fashion Week.

Which trends would you like to see stop?

  2. This is a great list! I absolutely loathe those damned sandals and feel the same about overalls. The patches I don't mind as much but I think that's just because they're not as prevalent. Yet.

  4. Ugly sandals actually make me cry. Then I glare at the person wearing them. I don't even acknowledge overalls as a fashion. They offend me.
