My September Julep Maven Box

For my September Julep Maven box, I selected Modern Beauty because I was just excited about the new beauty products this month. The theme was "Cityscape" inspired by bright lights and big dreams. (Cue: Empire State of Mind). I have to say I was a little disappointed by the box. They made changes in packaging and there weren't any extras so it looked quite empty. Here's what I received:

Blank Canvas Mattifying Face Primer (1 oz $28)
Bare Face Cleansing Oil (3.5 fl oz $28)
- Add-on: Konjac Cleansing Sponge $12

This age-defying primer creates absorbs shine, brightens skin, and locks in moisture for 24 hours while reducing the appearance of wrinkles and pores and is fortified with 18 plant extracts. It was thicker than any other primer I've used before. It will be a handy primer in the winter when my skin is desperately seeking to keep any moisture it can.

This cleanser gently and thoroughly dissolves makeup, dirt, and excess oil without leaving any oily residue. It is enriched with Julep’s proprietary Power Cell Complex™, a trio of skin-boosting superstars: Rosehip seed oil – a nourishing oil (and natural source of vitamins A and C) that helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and post-acne marks; Malvaceae Lipid Extract™ – a lipid complex that provides immediate and long-lasting hydration and works to rebuild skin structure from the inside out; and Green coffee bean oil – a natural anti-inflammatory that promotes cell turnover. It is very similar of DHC's classic Cleansing Oil. It did the job but I prefer DHC's which has 6 fl oz of product for the same price.

This super-soft sponge is an all-natural exfoliant made from the fibrous root of the Japanese Konjac plant. These sponges are the hot thing in the beauty world. I Am The Makeup Junkie review boscia's version. You can use it with the oil or alone. It gently exfoliates your skin. I enjoyed it (maybe wish it was a little rougher). Julep included a little hook for you to hang the sponge since you're supposed to let it air dry.

What did you receive your Julep box this month?
