Weekend Recap: Jersey or Bust

Thursday after class, I headed down to Jersey to visit the fam and get in some shopping. Friday morning woke up to a snow covered backyard. The fresh snow was so pretty but it was washed away the next day.

My cousin, Dad and I hit up Target and Kohl's. I actually had more luck in Kohl's. I've been dying to find vertical striped pants but instead found this great button-up, a $3 polka dot sweater, and this studded Rock & Republic blouse. I also found Essie nail polishes for $3 at the grocery store so I had to take advantage. The night concluded with a Scrabble game against my brother and Dad where I lost miserably since I never got any vowels!
Saturday we went to survey the damage from Hurricane Sandy at the shore. It was really sad to see the boardwalk that we loved to go to every summer completely gone. So many houses destroyed. They say that it will be open for the summer but there is definitely a lot of work to be done. Restore the shore! Then we headed over to Grandma's house for some lunch and tea.

Sunday I was completely thrown off by Daylight Savings and overslept. But still somehow felt tired all day. We drove back into the city with a full car of Kim's laundry and groceries (seriously looked like I was moving into a dorm or something....). Did some studying for midterms this coming week then my weekend concluded with the latest episode of Girls. It's getting dark this season and addressing some mental health issues. Only one episode left so I'm interested to see where Lena takes it.

It was definitely an eventful weekend and I got a lot accomplished. This week is midterms so I'll be a stress case but then it's spring break - yey!

What did you do this weekend?

  2. I love the kind of snow that melts the next day! It's so pretty, but such an inconvenience. How sad about the shore! I hope they do get it going by summer. It'll help everyone heal!

  3. Wow! The pictures of the boardwalk are so sad. I was in Australia when it happened so the enormity of it all hadn't really hit me as much until now :(

In other news - great buys! And amazing prices!

Have a great week. Thanks for linking up :)

  5. wow, the boardwalk pictures make me realize that unless you live in the area, you forget how the devastation impacts so much! Of course we all watched it on tv, but it's easy to forget about it, I can't even imagine the cost to repair all the damage! I hope that it is at least partly restored by summer so you can enjoy!

    1. The boardwalk looks like it will be open but the houses were sad :( Like one big pile of broken glass and wooden shingles. There were a lot of driveways with no houses at the end. You do forget about it not seeing it every day. Thankfully my parent's house was not hit badly, just a few trees fell over.

  7. So I left the city Friday and it hadn't snowed at all at my parents'... I was majorly weirded out because I felt like it snowed two feet in New York and I was leaving a major blizzard.

I went to Target this weekend and all I bought was food!

It's so sad about the beach. I haven't been in ages.
