Review: Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy

I've been wanting to try Revlon's new Nail Art duo brush for awhile now because it seems like a nail polish lover's dream: two nail polishes in one! I purchased one of their Moon Candy ones, which comes with a glitter nail polish to create a "3D cosmic effect." It costs around $8.99 depending on the store and location (Manhattan prices are always higher).

I chose Milky Way, which looked black in the bottle but turned out to be a dark gray. The color was dark enough for just one coat and since I decided I was going to add the glitter polish over it that it didn't need to be too heavy.

I thought the glitter looked like shards of glass! Not the typical glitter polish you find.

PROS

- 2 polishes for one.
- Lots of variety. Some may be mad that they can't mix and match, but I think the colors are pretty well grouped.
- Regular sized brushes. Although the bottles are small, the brush is a regular applicator brush.

CONS

- Application. Maybe it's just me, but I found it a little hard to keep a steady handy with the other bottle still attached. It gets heavy.
- Price. I'll leave this up to you but for 2 mini bottles, I wouldn't want to buy a lot of them for $8.99. If they had a blowout sale or something, sure.

Would I buy it again? Yes, I'd probably wait for a sale or a coupon since I don't need to be buying more expensive nail polishes.

*UPDATE: Several of you asked about the removal. After letting my nails sit for 5 days (with one chip) I took it off with Zoya's polish remover. It wasn't more difficult than glitter polish but glitter polish definitely takes some elbow grease. I actually found it easier to peel away the chunky glitter since they were so big.

And since I'm ADD about about nails and need to change them constantly, I decided to add Sally Hansen's Nail Strips in Sweet Marble Floret (thanks Laura!) to one of my nails:

What's on your nails this week?

  1. I've been dying to try these since I saw the ad in Glamour or one of those magazines and I love the one you chose. I like that the glitter is not your typical glitter polish. Does that make it hard to remove? I might wait until there's a coupon before I buy one of these!

Also, on an unrelated note, can I ask what textbooks you used when you were studying for the GRE?

    1. It's not any harder to remove than regular glitter polish. Actually thought the chunks were easier to get off because I pulled them off rather than soaking away with nail polish remover.

      hehe I used Princeton Review!

    1. What?! Oh man Sally Hansen nail strips last the best for me. You definitely have to file down your nail, make sure it's smooth and clean. Then put a top coat on!
