My March Birchbox

The theme of this month's Birchbox is March Madness. Yes, like basketball. I have a feeling some girls are not really going to understand it or like the theme. I personally (as a sports fan) love it! It's when the best of the best go head to head. They did their best to use sports jargon. "This box is filled with products that make the cut -- from up-and-coming rookies to veteran all-stars." Here's what I received in my box:

Macadamia Natural Oil Healing Oil Treatment (1 fl oz $13.50) | Whish Shave Crave Shaving Cream in Blueberry (.75 fl oz/ 5 oz $20) | Stella Cadente Miss Me Discrete? Eau de Toilette sample (.04 fl oz/.5 fl oz $35) | Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque (.5 fl oz/ 8.5 oz $36 | Alima Pure Luminous Shimmer Blush in Freja (full size $20) | Extra: Madewell for Birchbox exclusive Emery Board ($5)

This thick whip provides a close, moisturizing shave with no drying foam. Its natural ingredients leave your skin soft, smooth, and pampered. I'm a fan of blueberries so I liked the smell. It worked like any other shaving cream. The no foaming threw me off but had no idea it was "drying." Good travel item!

A blend of peony, orange, and silkwood blossom provides blossomy floral notes, while Siamese benzoin, tolu and peru balm add muted vanilla tones. This definitely reminds me of a perfume the French would wear. Passing it on to my perfume lover Laura.

Pure, luscious and richly pigmented, Alima Pure’s Luminous Shimmer Blush goes on sheer and blends beautifully for a healthy glow. Freja is described as a "light-to-medium warm pink with very subtle shimmer." I say it's definitely meant for medium skin tones which I am not. It has reflective shimmer in the powder to give you a beautiful glow. It's available in 10 shades so I'd consider trying a lighter color that suits my skin tone more.
This healing oil treatment is therapeutic for all hair types. It has intense nourishment to help de-tangle and de-frizz hair to make it ultra-smooth, manageable as well as shiny. I personally didn't like the smell of this product. I also didn't find it very nourishing when applied to my dry hair. Wasn't a big fan.

Another Macadamia product included in my box was their Deep Repair Hair Masque. It is described as a "hair reconstructor that will penetrate and rebuild damaged hair for improved shine and elasticity." It is enriched with macadamia and argan oils for deep nourishment and long-lasting conditioning. Unlike the oil, I wasn't put off by the smell. I was a little worried it would weigh my hair down but I was pleasantly surprised it didn't. I didn't leave it on for the full 7 minutes (probably more like 5) so maybe that helped. But it left my hair shiny and soft so I was happy.

Birchbox teamed up with Madewell to create an emery board inspired by Madewell’s new spring collection. The double-sided nail care essential is perfect for daily maintenance and as a quick fix for snags or breaks.

What did you get in your Birchbox this month?

  1. I also got the shaving cream and the emery board (which I love- too cute), but my other products were different. I got a benefit sample (I think it's foundation?) and something else that I can't remember right now. I really really wanted the Incoco nail strips though- I feel like I often miss out on nail products even though that's all I really want!

    star-crossed smile

    1. lol sometimes... but most of the time you're happy you did. I just have a fear that if I cancel that there's a waiting list and I'll never get back on.
