Google Reader is Shutting Down, What Now?

As you may or may not have heard, Google Reader is shutting down. What does this mean? Any blog you follow through Google like say Google Friend Connect will no longer work as of July 1st. However, I've seen Google slowly take away the Google Reader button already. As a blogger, this deeply affects me. I want to make it easy and convenient for my readers to be able to keep up with my blog. You mean a lot to me! Here are some places you can follow me that will hopefully keep things easy:

RSS Feeds. The good news is there are hundreds (if not more) RSS feed options. You can create your own RSS feed that you prefer. To follow my blog's RSS feed you can click the button under my pic or use this feedburner link. The downside is you'll have to re-add all the blogs you currently follow.

Bloglovin'. Many bloggers are switching over to Bloglovin' because you can easily import your Google Reader blogs over in a few simple steps. My blog is registered there (button under my photo) and you can follow here.

Networked Blogs. This is Facebook's attempt to have an RSS feed. If you're on Facebook a lot then perhaps this is the easiest for you. You can follow my blog here or follow on the sidebar.

Social networks. You can also follow me on my social networks where I share my latest posts. Twitter I'm on constantly and is the easiest way to get in touch with me. I tweet out my blog posts every day. On Instagram I often post a picture letting you know what my latest blog post is about. Unfortunately with Instagram you can't click over so you'll have to remember to check out my site. I also try to pin my posts on Pinterest so if you're an active pinner perhaps following me there is easier for you.

Please let me know if there any other subscription capabilities you'd like me to include on my blog that would make it easier for you to follow then the above mentioned. Thank you for your continued support!

  1. Also, Google Reader has an export option. Almost all the major players will be able to import your current Reader blogs, if they can't do it now.

  2. Bloglovin is my favorite. That is how I follow all my blogs.

  3. So depressing- idk when I'll change...I need to look into it, that's for sure! When Google got rid of GFC for non-blogspot sites, I lost so many readers. Hopefully that won't happen in July!

  4. I joined Bloglovin, imported all my blogs, sometimes glance at this daily feed e-mail... but truthfully, I haven't visited the site since. Still holding onto my Google Reader with an iron fist- but I've got to learn to adapt soon!

  5. I think I'm going to start using the Old Reader because it looks a lot like google reader. Also, I wanted to read your most recent post but I want to wait until after I've seen GoT in case there were spoilers! :)

  6. This is a great post. I just switched over to Bloglovin' but I think I like Feedly better.
