Drugstore Dupe: L'Oreal Magic Lumi Concealer vs YSL

I haven't done a drugstore dupe in a hot minute! I thought I'd share a recent new favorite find of mine: L'Oreal's Studio Secrets Professional Magic Lumi Highlighter. Prices I found online range from $8-$12. I think it's a great dupe for YSL's best seller TOUCHE ÉCLAT - Radiant Touch, which costs $40. I've always wanted to try YSL's Radiant Touch because it gets such great reviews and because I always have dark circles no matter how much sleep I get. But the price always deterred me. While I was browsing the beauty aisle during a recent shopping trip I spotted L'Oreal's product and have been wanting it to try it.
L'Oreal claims:
  • Light infusing primer. Instant illumination. Enlightened complexion.
  • Awaken your skin with targeted illumination using Magic Lumi Highlighter. This unique liquid light formula highlights your complexion and boosts radiance for a subtle glow. Dab it on dark areas or shadows for instant enlightenment or along the cheekbones and brow line for a wide-awake effect.
YSL claims:
  • The beauty secret of the world's top makeup artists and models, Touche Éclat is the original must-have for a radiant, flawless face.
  • Capture 8 hours of sleep with the click of a pen. With a few strategic strokes of this award-winning complexion highlighter—dark circles, fine lines and signs of fatigue virtually disappear. Powered by the radiance-boosting Luminocaptide Complex, skin is instantly illuminated, so you look rested and refreshed—even if you’ve been up for hours.
Both seem to be claiming very similar things but one big difference is that YSL comes in more shades. L'Oreal's is only available in 3 shades currently.

It is very similar in design to YSL with the brush tip.

I purchased "Fair" which was the lightest shade available. It actually was almost white because I think since it's also supposed to act like a highlighter that it was lighter than most concealers.

I have been very happy with the results. It's a concealer so it hides my dark circles and is also a highlighter so it brightens my eye area so I look more refreshed. I use it under my eye and under my brow bone. I needed it this week for midterms - that's for sure!

What dupes have you found lately?

    1. If you're looking for a concealer that also highlights, I definitely recommend this one. But if you just want a regular concealer that's not necessarily bright but matches your skin tone exactly then maybe skip it.

  2. I think I have something similar from Revlon or Maybelline right now... except it's in a summer shade so I haven't used it in a long time. I've always wanted to try YSL too but yeah, it just seems so expensive for so little!

  3. Have you seen the Maybelline Lumi concealer? Is there a difference between the L'oreal and Maybelline? I'll probably get whatever's cheaper. ^^

    1. My friend Alex (above) thinks she has Maybelline's version. Are they seriously the same name? lol Maybelline is probably a little cheaper since L'Oreal thinks of itself of as a luxury drugstore brand but $8 isn't bad if you get a coupon

  4. I love how drugstore products can compare to the designer products. This is a great comparison. If only the L'oreal one came in more shades.

  5. Really interesting. At least YSL has more shades, which is what most beauty brands should remember to do. Good review.

    1. That's true. Hopefully L'Oreal will expand into more shades if it becomes a popular product. Thanks for stopping by :)
