Zang Toi A/W 2013 Runway Show

Thanks to Laura of Blush and Beakers for covering Zang Toi's runway show. Here's her thoughts:

A sense of romanticism filled the air as the lights dimmed and music began to play at Zang Toi’s Fall 2013 NYFW show. The imagery that served as inspiration for this collection is what Zang Toi calls “...Imperial Russia that re-imagines the historical opulent looks of the faberge egg and Peterhof Palace.” The show commenced with plush fabrics and furs and slowly evolved into beautiful evening gowns accented by more fur and beautiful beaded embroidery. Mr. Toi left no base uncovered for a modern woman’s wardrobe. From billowy cashmere to buttery soft leather coats, with fur lapels. Do I need to emphasize that there was no skimming on the fur whether it was lining a jacket, sleeve or neck? There were also trousers and the like as shorts with matching blazers and jackets in corduroy, glen plaid and pinstripes. Silk blouses with bows wrapping the models as gifts, and cashmere turtlenecks completed these luxurious winter looks. We also saw wool and tweed pencil skirts and suit jackets set apart by imperial embroidery and gold. Beautiful faberge egg printed dress and capes followed. Gowns flowed down the runway in deep emeralds, sapphire, and purple colors. There is no doubt that with this collection one was able to transport back into the time of Russian royalty.

What are your thoughts on the collection?
