Best and Worst Dressed at the 70th Annual Golden Globes

Award season has arrived! The Golden Globes kicked off award season officially with it's first female hosts: Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. I like the Golden Globes the best because it's a more relaxed, fun award show so stars tend to have more fun with their style. Retro hair and red were popular trends on the red carpet. So much so I was getting a little sick of it but let's break it down... shall we?

Best Dressed: Tina Fey & Amy Poehler. Amy wore a suit on the red carpet and looked stunning. These ladies were fabulous so they had to get my best dressed!
Best Dressed in White: Anne Hathaway in Chanel. Worst Dressed: Amanda Seyfried in Givenchy. Anne looked stunning in Chanel. She looked clean and crisp in white while her co-star Amanda was swallowed in this dress. I would have liked her hair up since it had a high collar and I would've removed that awful pin.
Best Dressed in Red: Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture, Zooey Deschanel in Oscar de la Renta, Jennifer Garner, and Naomi Watts in Zac Posen. Red was the color of the night and all the ladies looked fabulous! Jennifer Lawrence had a big night with her win for Silver Linings Playbook. Zooey looked her darling self but finally looked put together. I loved Naomi's deep back!
Best Dressed in Fishtail: Amy Adams in Marchesa and Hayden Panettiere in Cavalli. Fishtail was another big trend on the red carpet but these ladies looked stunning!
Best Post-Baby Bodies: Claire Danes in Versace, Megan Fox in Dolce & Gabbana, Sienna Miller in Erdem. Worst Expecting: Kristen Bell. All the ladies who just had a baby looked great! They all opted to show off their fabulous post-baby bodies so bravo to them. Sienna opted for a '60s inspired shirt and skirt combo that fit perfectly with her personal style. I hate to do this to Kristen Bell who is expecting her first child but she is wearing too much fabric! Why would you want to be so covered up? She looks heavier than she is.

Best Shorter Hemlines: Kerry Washington in Miu Miu and Marion Cotillard in Christian Dior. Worst: Rachel Weisz. Usually I don't like shorter hemlines on the red carpet since these are evening award shows but my fashionable ladies Kerry and Marion did not disappoint. I thought they both looked fabulous. Rachel Weisz was a miss in this polka dot sheer number.
Best in Black & Gold: Helen Mirren, Kate Hudson and Nicole Kidman in McQueen. All the ladies in black and gold looked gorgeous. This trend can be worn by ladies of all ages and can be elegant to edgy.
Best Dressed in Blue: Nicole Richie in Naeem Khan. Worst Dressed: Jessica Chastain in Calvin Klein and Rosario Dawson. I don't typically like young starlets in a fully covered head-to-toe gown but Nicole Richie looks simply elegant in blue Naeem Khan. Jessica Chastain was one of the fabulous women nominated for Best Actress so this was a major fashion moment for her but she let me down entirely. The fabric on top made her breasts look saggy. Also, Rosario is top heavy and her breasts looked smothered. Very disappointed in my ladies in blue.
Best Slit: Katherine McPhee in Theyskens' Theory. Worst Slits: Eva Longoria in Emilio Pucci and Halle Berry in Atelier Versace. Slits are nice way to add some sexiness to a dress on the red carpet but some can go too far. Case in point: Eva and Halle. Eva is wearing those granny panties that were a trend awhile ago. She's showing too much skin. I don't like the print of Halle's dress. She could have done better. While Katherine still looked classy with all that skin showing.
Best in Cut-Outs: Kristen Wiig and Emily Blunt both pulled off the cut-out trend in Michael Kors.
Worst Dressed Cast: Ladies of Modern FamilySarah Hyland, Julie Winter, Ariel Winter and Sofia Vergara. I was disappointed in my ladies of Modern Family.
Worst Dressed Young Starlets: Lena Dunham, Julianne Hough in Monique Lhuillier and Olivia Munn in Georgio Armani.  All these ladies are young so they're going to make mistakes on the red carpet. Hopefully they'll do better next time.

  1. I agree with everything you said except that I think Kristen Bell looked cute. She's so tiny that I can see how the dress overwhelmed her, but I was still a fan.

    1. She looked good from boobs down but didn't like that it went all the way up to her neck :/ but she looks super happy!
