My December Birchbox

This month's Birchbox had some flare! The box was all dressed up for the holidays. If I would have known, I would have used it for my Christmas gifts (but I already repurposed them with some wrapping paper). The box featured products to get you ready for the new year. Here's what I received:

Juicy Couture perfume sample (1 oz $52) | ModelCo SHINE Ultra Lip Gloss in Strip Tease (full size $16) | Benefit Cosmetics It's Potent! Eye Benefit Cream (.1 oz/.5 oz $32) | $50 credit to RenttheRunway.com | K√©rastase Nutritive Nectar Thermique (2 .34 fl oz samples/1.7 oz $18) | Extra: Emily's Chocolates Dark Chocolate Peppermint Holiday Fortune Cookie

The lip gloss name was a bit scandalous. While I appreciated the full size sample (which features a mirror on the side of the bottle), it's not particularly a lip gloss I like. It leaves a frosted look I don't like and I found it a bit sticky. On the plus side, it is very long lasting. Also has that bubble gum scent if that's something you like.

This is a thermo-protective nourishing leave-in treatment for dry, very dry, or sensitized hair. It moisturizes, adds smoothness and shine, as well as protects your hair from heat. I'm currently reviewing several leave-in conditioners so will do a review of this product later this month. Stay tuned!

I love Benefit products! Your eyes are the first to show signs of aging and stress. This eye cream helps fade dark circles and help smooth fine lines for brighter, younger-looking eyes. It blends hydrating botanical extracts including apple extract, known to help boost collagen, and loquat extract, known to help protect the skin from free radical damage. I found this eye cream to be gentle enough that I didn't feel it pulled at my skin. I'd definitely consider buying a full size sample.

I'm not a fan of dark chocolate but figured I'd give this a try. I was pleasantly surprised! The peppermint helped with the bitter taste of dark chocolate that I don't like. It was quite delicious.

I think Rent the Runway is a great service but I haven't used it yet. For those who don't know, RenttheRunway.com allows you to chose from 160 designers and rent a dress for up to 15% off the retail price. They offer same day delivery in NYC, ship to hotels, allow you to return the product for a different size and include alterations. It's a great option if you don't want to buy an expensive dress you'll only wear once.

What did you get in your Birchbox this month?

  1. I've been wanting to try Rent the Runway, but haven't come up with an excuse yet.

Looks like some great stuff you got! I'd love to try that chocolate fortune cookie :)

  2. I don't like sticky gloss either, but I love that it has a mirror on the side. I haven't used Rent the Runway even though I think it's a great concept.
