The Faux Thanksgiving That Almost Didn't Happen

There once was a family
Who lived in a big ol' house.
They liked to get together for Thanksgiving
Because isn't that what it's all about?
They came from far and near,
To celebrate what they coined Faux Thanksgiving.
Its the same as any turkey day
With good food, laughter and cheer.
Well I'm sad to say
It almost didn't happen this year.

A bad stomach virus was tearing through the land,
It came in waves
With some not even able to stand.
As the hours passed by
It seemed another person was falling ill,
My father, my sister, my brother and mother
All felt the same chill.

Twas the night before Thanksgiving
And everyone was knocked out,
Would there be a Faux Thanksgiving this year?
We were going to find out.
The morning sun was shining,
And we rubbed our eyes.
We peaked to see how the other was feeling
And ponder if we would eat those pumpkin pies.
As each one of us arose from our slumber
It was clear we weren't all going to leave our bedside
But Faux Thanksgiving would go on
Because we knew we had to keep the tradition alive.

We had our turkey, gravy and stuffing
But just didn't fill ourselves to the brim.
It might be the first Thanksgiving we all lost weight,
So we all went home looking a little thin.

That is the story of the Faux Thanksgiving that almost didn't happen
It will be a memorable one, don't worry.
But I'm glad I was able to give thanks with family,
Let's hope Christmas will be a different story.

How did you spend your Thanksgiving?
