My First Beauty Army Kit

One good thing that came out of flying a red eye with the stomach flu was coming home to my beauty boxes! I was especially excited about my first Beauty Army kit as I've heard good things. They also exclusively carry one of my favorites - Grand Central Beauty. It works a little differently than the other beauty boxes because you get to pick your samples based on the beauty profile you fill out. You get to select 6 out of the 9 they give to you for $12. I think it's a great option for those who want a more personalized beauty subscription box each month with some flexibility. But I most point out their fantastic customer service!

Once I selected my samples I tweeted about it using their tweet button, then I got a quick response from Beauty Army on Twitter who realized I only ordered 5 samples when you get 6 so they said email us to pick another sample. I told them that from the choices I was given, I only wanted 5 so she showed me some other samples so I was able to pick a 6th sample. Color me impressed!

Now on to what's inside. The packaging was cute with pink camouflage inside to represent "beauty army." Very clever. Since you select your samples online, you don't really get a product card. Mine just gave me a code to use to purchase the full-sizes with free shipping. Here's what I picked:

Fiafini Delicate Cleansing Emulsion (.17 oz/ 4 oz $28) | Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream (.1 fl oz/ 4 oz $37.20) | Emani Minerals Foundation Primer and Hydrating Serum (.84 oz $25) | Ineke Hothouse Flower Eau de Parfum (.05 fl oz/ 2.5 fl oz $95) | Lipsi Cosmetics Aphrodite Powder (.16 oz/ .74 oz $16) | Skinn Cosmetics Twin Set Lipstick & Lip Gloss in Pink Tulip (full size $18.50) | Extra: Whip Hand Cosmetics Limited Edition Loose Pigment Eyeshadow in Locked & Loaded (.03 oz/ .1 $11.20)

I wanted to try this because I have sensitive skin and it says it's "the sensitive skin solution to defy your age." It's made with desert botanicals and marula oil that help with anti-aging. Definitely had that "botanical" smell. It was very gentle but not sure I felt the immediately results.

I've been dyin to try Egyptian Magic. I hear it's wonderful. I couldn't track it down in a drugstore in the city so not sure where it's available. Ingredients include olive oil, beeswax, hone, bee pollen, royal jelly and propolis extract. It comes out like a waxy substance but you rub it in your palms until it turns into an oil. While the smell isn't fantastic... the cream is! It definitely nourished my dry, flaky winter skin that I so desperately needed.

This foundation primer works as both a base coat as well as moisturizer. It contains 10 different organic extracts to aid and prep your skin while minimizing fine lines and pres. It is cruelty, paraben and talc free. It's a very thing moisturizer that easily blends into your skin. Wasn't that impressed with the staying power though.

This perfume had super cute packing! I had never heard of Ineke so wanted to give it a try. Top notes include Earl Gray Tea, Green Foilage, Cypress. It's not quite something I'd pick for myself but it's soft and subtle that perhaps I could mix with another fragrance.

This fine finishing powder is designed to absorb the excess oils on your skin while keeping your makeup fresh all day long. This powder suits all skin types and tones. I haven't given it a full test run but I like it so far. Very light and soft. I like that it's also a neutral versus white which if you don't blend, makes you look like you got hit with a powder puff.

This is a pretty brilliant invention. They combined a full lipstick with a lipstick for an easy on-the-go look (with a mirror!). I was given the choice of coral or pink tulip but felt coral was more summer. They smell like bubble gum which is amazing.

Loose powders scare me as I have knocked several over but this one is so tiny and cute. This is from their camo collection which contains a "series of four army-themed loose powder eyeshadow pigments." This is a smoky brown color with hints of bronze to it that I really like.

Have you tried Beauty Army yet?
