Guest Post: 4 DIY Hostess Gifts for the Holidays by A Pretty Nest

Original image via

I'm Marie-Eve and I blog over at A Pretty Nest. I blog about fashion and fun DIY projects. And since American Thanksgiving just passed (I'm Canadian!), I decided to show you some fun and easy DIY project that would make great gift for hostess on Thanksgiving and over the holidays.

The holidays can get expensive and that is why I love to give handmade gifts. It's less expensive and usually more appreciated. You can have crafty skills, or none at all, it doesn't matter!

1. Chalkboard mugs

This is a fun, easy and quick project that requires basically no skills at all. And it's quite fun to recieve. You can use chalkboard paint from the store, or make your own (easy recipe HERE). Add a pretty packaging and some hot chocolate mix.

2. You've got some knitting or crochet skills? Use them!

I love to crochet. And I love scarves! Scarves are pretty much the easier pieces to make. This one I made myself, and gifted some over the past years on the holidays, and it's always a hit! You can find tons of easy patterns on the internet on sites like Ravelry. There are also tons of Pinterest boards dedicated to them. You can see mine HERE.

No skills at all? Not to worry. This project could be a fun alternative.

3. For the fashionista, DIY jewelry!

DIY jewelry is my favorite. I enjoy making them. Some are more complicated, but some don't require skills at all. For some more ideas, I also have a Pinterest board dedicated to that HERE (I kinda love Pinterest!)

4. Love to bake? Make some cookies!

Or anything else really. Macaroons, homemade caramels, brownies... whatever you like best. Who doesn't like a little treat on the holidays!

You see, it's pretty much know what you're good at, and enjoy making it! Or if you've got no crafting or baking skills, there's still a project for you!

Thank you for reading, And thanks Kimberlee for having me !

  5. I love the mug idea! I may have to attempt that for a few people! I wish I could knit or crochet. It would be so easy to make presents while watching movies. :)
