UPDATE!: My First Laser Cosmetica Experience

I won a free facial at LaserCosmetica during a raffle at the ClosetDash swap event! They graciously called me to tell me I had won and set up an appointment with me. I visited their Midtown location in Manhattan because it was the most convenient but they have 4 total and several other in the surrounding boroughs.

After sitting down with my aesthetician, I informed her that I have sensitive skin which is why I tend to avoid getting facials. I only recently had a quick facial peel at Spa Merge which I actually quite enjoyed. She said that she would do a glycolic peel instead of the microderm since it is less abrasive on my skin.

Doesn't the blue bring out my eyes?
The glycolic peel is derived of cane sugar and scrubs off the dead skin cells. I had to put on this sexy hair net to hold back my hair.
The room felt pretty bare almost like a hospital. Much different than the serene feeling at Spa Merge. I was so worried that she was going to use that machine on me but thankfully she didn't. She warned me that I would feel some tingling and I sure did. It definitely stung and irritated. After what felt like a half hour she wiped off the chemical with baby wipes.

I felt like my face looked like I had a bad sunburn. It was very red. She said I was allowed to put makeup on - thank goodness! I didn't want to walk around looking like Samantha (Sex and the City reference...). Although it had calmed down by the end of the day because my friend said at dinner that she didn't notice any redness. I'll keep you updated how my skin feels by the end of the week!

*UPDATE!: As promised... I wanted to give you all an update of my experience after a week or so. My skin felt very tight so I definitely had to step my moisturizing game up. Thankfully there was no peeling or flaking. My pimple problems went away very quickly. My skin definitely feels revitalized. I think this is something I should do at least once a year.

Would you ever get a facial peel?

  1. You are braver than I. I also have sensitive skin (Rosacea), keep us updated as the week progresses. By the way, love the necklace you're wearing!

  2. I've never done a peel - only regular facials at a spa, which I love. Curious how your skin will feel in the coming weeks and if blemishes will pop back up. I've had a bit of stress related acne over the past year, so would love a new way to get rid of it. Funny how I never had acne until my late 20's!

I'll have to check back on your progress xx

  3. My friend gets those done every once in awhile and has to hide for a few days! ESHK! She can't wear makeup though... I'd love to try it! xoxo

  4. I've had a glycolic peel before, they're great. I have acne prone skin and I always get scars and this leaves my skin looking so much brighter and cleared. Glad to see that you enjoyed yours!
