My First BB Cream Experience

BB Creams have become quite the must-have in the beauty industry. Their popularity grew in Asian countries and now have made their way to the United States with drugstore brands L'Oreal and Garnier selling them. I never knew what they were or what the big fuss was. According to Wikipedia, a BB Cream is also known as "Blemish Balm" and has "multi-tasking" all-in-one properties — moisturizer, primer, foundation, and sunblock. BB creams make up 13% of the cosmetics market.

A highly recommended BB Cream was Smashbox's Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35. It's little pricey at $39 but when they offered a Friends & Family discount I decided to purchase it (free shipping!). It is appropriate for all skin types, this product is free of fragrance, dermatologist tested, and non-acnegenic. Thankfully the palest shade was pale enough for my fair skin.

According to Smashbox, it is a "multitasking tinted cream formula with SPF 35 moisturizes, primes, perfects, controls oil, and protects for flawless skin on set and beyond. Formulated with emollients and optical pearl pigments, this BB Cream gives skin a glowing, ethereal look and provides a hydrating veil for the complexion to maintain moisture on the surface of the skin. With its ultra-smoothing finish, it instantly re-texturizes to create a smooth canvas. Especially when worn under foundation, it enhances the wear of makeup."
It felt rich like a foundation to me, light like a tinted moisturizer. I'm not exactly trying to look "camera ready" so won't be building coverage up but think it does a nice job on it's own.

Have you ever tried a BB Cream? What was your experience?

  1. I've been hearing so many good things about BB creams, but I've never got round to using them. I will definitely keep an eye open for the Smashbox one.

  6. BB creams aren't supposed to be tinted moisturizers. America got it all wrong. Definitely try the Korean BB creams! They're WAAAY better. America is just making tinted moisturizers and slapping on the BB cream label saying it's a BB cream -___-

    2. Hello,

Missha BB Creams are well known brand here in Dubai. The color range is true to color and carry one for all skin types. I really like the hypoallergenic BB one. It is for sensitive skin and the lightest color is best for pale skin tones. I noticed in the U.S. brands the lightest color being 1 or two shades too dark for fair skin tones.
I live in the Middle East and they carry Missha at The Dubai Mall. But I found a website that might be of help to you in English. Though I have never shopped for it online this is a trusting brand and website. I work for the government and have checked the website background records, its all secure and safe so shop away!!!!!!

It seems to be a sale going on.

But I have noticed you are so lucky having such a lovely face without makeup and you dont need to wear makeup.
