How to: Ombre Nails

For the ClosetRaid swap party this weekend, I decided to do ombre nails in the ClosetRaid logo colors: white, blue and black. I've done ombre nails where each finger was a slightly different shade of one color but never on one nails. After doing a little research on YouTube, I never realized how easy it was!

I used Essie's Marshmallow, Wet 'n Wild Black Creme and Zoya's Breezi. Cut your makeup sponge down to the width of your nail for easier use.
Start with your base color. Since you need to build up the white color, I started with that.
Apply your colors to the sponge in the order you'd prefer. Apply generously!
You may want to dab any excess polish onto a tissue before applying to nails especially with these dark colors they can blend together easily.
They came out fairly successful for my first time. Next time I'll definitely dab the excess to avoid the dark colors blending together and add white polish to the sponge to help blend the blue better.

Would you try ombre nails?

  3. I've tried this...number of times and they never come out right...I don't think I'm using dark enough nail polish. Yours came out great though :)

    1. I don't think you need to have a dark color. I've seen pretty pastels. I think the key is a base color to build upon :)
