Review: Maybelline's Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel Eyeshadow

I've been wanting to try Maybelline's Eye Studio Color Tattoo eyeshadow after reading the reviews from Fab Fatale and A Brilliant Brunette. I was worried that they might be a little too pigmented for my taste so they recommended "Tough as Taupe" for a more natural looking color. It was around $7 at my local drugstore and is about the same size as a MAC paint pot. It claims to be a super saturated color that doesn't fade. The color was really creamy and when I swatched it on my hand it wouldn't rub off!

I wore this for the swap event last night and I have to say I wasn't blown away by it. It was a pretty color but I found that the color wasn't as intense by the end of the evening. When I wore it on my hand it did last for awhile but it was definitely faded. I was able to easily remove all my eye makeup with baby oil. I think if you like to wear a bold color shadow then give it a try but for those looking for a natural look stick to Tough as Taupe or Bad to the Bronze.

Have you tried this product? What are your thoughts?

  1. I prefer cream eyeshadow to powder ones, so I might give this one a go - thanks for the tip!

  2. Cream shadows typically crease so bad on me! I like the look, but it only last about 2 hours on me, max. Boo.

  3. It looks like a good colour, but I guess Maybelline aren't known for their eyeshadows that much.

  4. I tried this eyeshadow and was TOTALLY blown away by it. It wears just as well for me as the much higher priced Bobbi Brown "Slate" (which is a tad lighter). You can also apply it heavier or lighter. I have had NO problems with it fading at evening's end, and I think it depends on how it's applied (plus maybe personal oiliness). As to how good the color is, I think a lot of these reviews are done by people who really don't know their best colors. I've done some really down-and-dirty personal color analysis and it is "my" color. I do not think it is your best color and that is going to make all the difference in the world. This color belongs on a woman with subtle and blended coloring to appear to best advantage. Otherwise, it's fairly forgiving on a lot of people even though it may not be their best. So, for what that's worth... This is a real "keeper" for me.
