Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Today is a special day not because I'm half Irish but because it's my sister's birthday!! My sister Keri (a.k.a. Ladera Mom) is turning 30! She's not too happy about it. I don't see guys mocking each other on their 30th birthdays about how they're 'over the hill.' 30 is still young ladies! She has accomplished so much in life at 30: she has a master's degree from Pepperdine, married her high school sweetheart, had two beautiful boys, has a great job (recently promoted!). 30 is essentially one third of your life (most of us are living to 90 now). That's not a lot people. Yes, it's a huge milestone but women don't need to be depressed by it. I'm depressed by my 20s because you make so many stupid mistakes, you're still figuring out who you are. I'm looking forward to my 30s because I'll be more self-assured and have a career going for myself.

While frat guys use St. Patrick's Day as an excuse to get drunk, much like they do with Cinco de Mayo (do they even know why Mexico celebrates Cinco de Mayo?), I'm pulling a Liz Lemon today and hibernating. I hate that drunk people have to ruin this day and most other holidays for that matter. But I digress...

Happy Birthday sister!

Me and my sister at Taco Tuesday (I need to stop wearing this J.Crew shirt lol!)
I ordered her this floppy J. Crew hat which she better rock this summer!
What are you doing for St. Patrick's Day?

  1. I love your Liz Lemon reference because I am also staying in and wearing orange. Well, sort of (catching up on the last Castle, too!) This is a lovely post and tribute to your sister - enjoy your weekend!

  2. Happy Birthday to your sister!! Have a fabulous weekend.

  3. A massive Happy Birthday to your sister! Hope she has a great day. Keep wearing the sequins top!! It's amazing.

We all have opinions... I want to hear yours!
