Best and Worst Dressed at the 69th Annual Golden Globes

Ricky Gervais was back hosting after his scandalous hosting skills last year. Although I felt he was pretty tame this year and was a bit disappointed. There was more color on the red carpet then there typically is but nude, red and black were still the big trends. I'm glad to see green is having such a great year though. Let's break down the red carpet, shall we?

Melissa McCarthy looked gorgeous in emerald Badgley Mischka. Not so sure I loved the big hair.

Evan Rachel Wood in Gucci rocked a similar gown to Madonna with the sequins cascading into another texture, Madonna was fabric while ERW's was feather. Spoiler alert: I didn't like either.

Freida Pinto wore a teal Prada dress that I felt like was a lot of dress for her petite frame.

Laura Dern showed off her amazing figure in an Andrew Gn green sequin gown. You don't have to show a lot of skin to be sexy. (Hint: Lea Michele).

By far one of the biggest colors worn on the red carpet, black:

Rooney Mara was no surprise in this black Nina Ricci gown. I liked the top but the bottom fabric looked cheap.  Her makeup was flawless though!

Zooey Deschanel was not cute in a custom Prada mess. She also got a haircut which I thought made her look like she had sideburns (it was awful!). But she does get best nails of the night!

Debra Messing looked great in Monique Lhuillier. It's been awhile since she's been on the red carpet - I miss her. She and Julianne Moore wore great emerald earrings.

Jane Lynch looked too casual in this halter top dress. I think she should have worn a suit where she's obviously more comfortable.

Mila Kunis was sultry in black Dior with a hint of sheer at the top.

Salma Hayek's Gucci dress looked kind of disco inspired but loved that her boobs were on display (lol!).

Julianne Moore didn't look she could move in her Chanel dress but her makeup was stunning and I always love an emerald earring with a black dress.

Claire Danes wore classic black and white with an unique J. Mendel dress. I like that she switched it up from a brightly colored gown last year.

Kate Winselt always looks amazing and this black and white Jenny Packham gown was no exception.

All the blue ladies had trains... Sofia Vergara looked sexy in a navy Vera Wang mermaid dress that showed off her amazing curves.

Sarah Michelle Gellar wore quite the artful dress by Monique Lhuillier, which she said her daughter picked. I kind of like it. Ponytails were a big trend on the red carpet last night.

Kelly Osbourne wore Zac Posen. I liked it with the lavender hair although most people didn't.

Tilda Swinton wore a Haider Ackermann jacket with an awesomely disheveled up do. I love this woman!

And I had to include a gentleman, my favorite - Zachary Levi!

Michelle Williams was exquisite in this velvet laser cut-out dress by Jason Wu. She also gave a beautiful speech!

Nicole Kidman tried a Cate Blanchett with a piece of art dress but I don't think she pulls it off.

Jessica Alba glistened beautifully on stage in this Gucci dress and the fit was perfect.

Only Julianna Marguiles could pull of head to toe purple sequin dress. I loved how the older actresses covered up more but still looked sexier. Big teal jewelry was also a trend on the red carpet.

Octavia Spencer who was a big winner for The Help looked great in this pastel purple dress.

Ariel Winter from Modern Family who is only 14 looked amazing in this Dolce & Gabbana dress.

It was not pretty in white. Busy Phillips, who was Michelle Williams date, was overwhelmed in this fringe Temperley London dress. But she looked so good at People's Choice Awards!

Elle Macpherson in Zac Posen looked too wedding-ish with a whole lot of hair and a whole lot of train.

Amanda Peet is a gorgeous girl but this tiered dress was not a good look for her.

Sarah Hyland from Modern Family was gorgeous in vintage Dolce and Gabanna.

Kate Beckinsale was a knock out in Roberto Cavalli (as Seth Rogen so kindly pointed out) and I loved the bow earrings by Loraine Schwartz.

Amy Poehler finally looked great on the red carpet in Naeem Khan.

Diane Lane was flawless in Reem Acra.

Julie Bowen, also from Modern Family, was lovley in Reem Acra as well.

And wow was Jessica Biel a hot mess. The dress looked like was the dress from "The Proposal" where are her boobs? It overwhelmed her and she has a great body! My Twitter buddy Wardrobe Oxygen agreed.

Kristin Wiig and Heidi Klum's dress were more on the peach side. I felt like Heidi's Calvin Klein dress was too summery for the occasion.

Piper Perabo was quite the spectacle posing in this sheer gray dress from Theyskens' Theory Spring 2012 collection.

Lea Michele was just trying too hard in this Marchesa gown. I think J. Lo would pull this off better.

Nicole Richie looked simply elegant in this floor length sequin dress.

Madonna Reem Akra's dress was hot at the top but the bottom wasn't attractive and why wear one glove?

Naya Rivera, from Glee, was all wrong in this Vera Wang gown. The seem is pulling in the front. This is a gorgeous girl, how could they put her in a bag?!

Charlize Theron was trying to work the hell out of the Dior dress but it screamed princess to me especially with the headband.

Natalie Portman had red accents to her pink dress like Angelina but the color was too Barbie. I didn't like this look on her at all.

Mary J. Blige looked great in sequins and feathers at the bottom - one of her best looks!

Angelina Jolie looks like an ice queen but damn can she work a dress.

I liked that most of the actresses wore a wine color red rather than Reese's bright red Zac Posen dress.

Emma Stone wore a muti-colored dress by Lanvin. It made her very sultry looking but I didn't like the eagle belt.

Viola Davis showed off her great figure with a sexy slit in red in this Christian Dior dress.

Tina Fey was va va voom in Oscar de la Renta.

I thought Diana Agron looked amazing in this Giles Deacon red dress. Most don't like it but I loved the detail in the cut-out.

A surprising trend on the red carpet was yellow. Paula Patton needed a smiley face added to hers because she was the most excited person there, it was pretty hilarious.

Maria Menounos went for a slim, sequin yellow dress.

And my girl from Chuck, Yvonne Strahovski looked great at the after party.

Who were your picks for best and worst dressed?

  3. I love this! You're clearly a very organized person.

I thought Angelina Jolie's dress was lovely, but her arms looked scary. And Natalie Portman looked cute in that dress! Zachary Levi, too :)

  4. I didn't like as many dresses this year as I usually do. I was so suprised to see how much yellow there was on the red carpet. My favourite was probably the yellow sequin dress. Love the way it flattered the figure and I adore sequins.

  6. Great breakdown. Charlize and Angelina's were my favorites, though I don't tend to think of myself I liking pink that much. I also loved Claire's.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!
