An Open Letter to the Creep on the Subway

Dear Creepy Guy on the Subway,

Let's remember the day, shall we? It was a cold, crisp fall day in New York. We were on the 6 train heading downtown. I was headed to work, doing my usual routine. Got off the crowded train around 10 am and hustled up the stairs. I felt a brush against my back end and didn't think much of it. It's crowded, it could have been someone's bag. But no... you couldn't have just let it go. Could you? Once we reached the top of the steps, you couldn't have just let me walk on with my day in peace thinking nothing of the incident. You thought it was a good idea to wink, smile and wave at me as if I would be so flattered by your unwarranted actions. Just a note: a wink is never an appreciated gesture especially when coming from a stranger.

Let me just remind you because you've seem to have forgotten: My ass is not an invitation. Do not touch it when you feel like it. Do not touch it when it's 10 o'clock in the morning. Do not touch it when I'm completely bundled up. Do not touch it when I'm on my way to work. And if you happen to touch, do not let me know that you touched it. Just be happy that you got away with it and leave it be. You don't need to ruin my day with your disgusting behavior.

Next time, keep your hands to yourself! Thank you.

P.S. Feel free to pass this information along to your friends for the sake of women and all subway passengers.

  1. Wow, that was creepy that is why I don't take trains or buses.

  2. I can so relate. It's one thing if it's super crowded & packed full of people - it's another to do it on purpose. Gross!

  3. What a jerk!! I know exactly what you're talking about.

  4. What an effing creep, it's like as if winking isn't creepy enough, you want wink at me after you violated me? Eff you!! Sorry you had to go thru that, ESP at the start of your day.

  5. Oh wow hunni, so sorry that happened to you. NYC subway's can be such a scary place. What a loser!

  6. @downtownchicagobarbie- haha that's not really an option in NYC

  7. Ugh... I'm so sorry that happened to you! Isn't it ridiculous that we don't even consider these sort of thing unusual now?

  8. UGH!!! So sorry that happened to you :-/

    He's disgusting.

  9. ah yes, the joys of nyc subways. i'll admit i made it out relatively unscathed with nothing more than witnessing a mugging or two in my 3 years.

  10. @Marissa- Yes it's ridiculous women have to just "accept" being harassed

    @Ashley- Aw thanks :)

    @NodtoStyle- Well I've been here 4 years so it was awhile. A lot of my friends have been robbed (mostly cell phones taken out of their hands) thankfully hasn't happened to me yet
