Book Review: "Spa Wars: The Ugly Truth About The Beauty Industry" By Lora Condon

Discover what your bikini waxer is really thinking while ripping your hair out.

During my visit at the Arrojo Salon, we were treated to a reading from Lora Condon (who was wearing fabulous flame heels) from her book "Spa Wars: The Ugly Truth about the Beauty Industry." The hilarious tidbits she shared with us made me want to start reading this book right away. It is definitely an eye opening book. She shares her experiences behind salon doors from making it in New York City as an Italian Jersey girl (I can relate lol!). She talks about the crazy journey her career path has taken her on and how scary the freelance life can be but what great rewards can come of it. I can definitely relate to those feelings right now.

Then she had a section where she debunked some beauty myths. I found this section really helpful and was already kind of suspect about most of these. Good to know my instincts were right! Read the labels ladies. Then the final sections are about common complaints regarding skin, makeup, etc. and how to fix them. Very helpful and straight forward. I'll be bookmarking these pages!

She kindly signed a copy for me:

Great Madonna quote!

This book will teach you about business in general, to stick up for yourself and have confidence in the work you do. I highly recommend it for some laugh out reading this summer.

What books are you reading this summer?

  1. This sounds like such an interesting read - though I'm not sure if I want to know what my bikini waxer is thinking about me during our waxing sessions! ;)
I'm currently reading The Help, and just finished Memoirs of a Geisha - I'm trying to read all the books sitting on my shelves that I've been promising myself I'd read for years!

We all have opinions... I want to hear yours!
