Drugstore Dupe: Maybelline Fit Me™ Foundation vs NARS

For those who don't know what a dupe is, it's a product similar to another for a cheaper price kind of like makeup's version of a knock-off. NARS Sheer Matte Foundation is available for $42 on Sephora. Maybelline's Fit Me foundation with SPF 18 is available at Target for $6.49 (and I had a $1 off coupon). Both come in 1 fl. oz bottles.

I purchased the NARS foundation in the palest shade available 'Siberia.' NARS was one of the only brands to have a shade closest to my porcelain skintone. However, I still found it a little yellowish. I really loved this product; it was creamy, was light on my skin and didn't spoil in a year.

When I went to Shecky's Girls Night Out, they did Maybelline makeovers with the new Fit Me collection. The makeup artist matched me to 110, the second to palest (WOO!) shade. With my coupon for Target and my NARS foundation was running low, I'd thought I'd pick it up. I wore it for the Yankees game and was really impressed! It had all the great qualities of NARS, but matched my skin better. The true test will be how long it lasts before starting to smell funny.

Have you tried either of these products? What are your thoughts?

  1. Hmm... good to know. The only thing I find difficult with drug store makeup is that you can't try the colors on.

  2. That is true, that's why I like to check swatches from bloggers ;)

  3. I've never tried the NARS foundation, but I found that even when I used a primer, the Maybelline foundation didn't last very long. Other than that the Maybelline foundation was great, and it never seemed to obtain an odd odor or anything such as that. Good post, though!

  4. I always return if it doesn't match from drugstores and have never had a problem doing so they just can't resale once its open when trying to find my color I returned and exchanged about 4 at cvs in a weeks time
