How To Pack For A Trip

I consider myself a pretty savvy traveler. I fly to California around 4 times a year since my sister lives there. I'm flying out tomorrow for the week because it's my sister's birthday and my nephew's baptism. I thought I would show you the inside of my suitcase to show you how I pack.

Some tips:
  • Roll your clothes as tightly as you can to maximize space.
  • Hide your underwear in your shoes. (People search your bags so I like to hide my private things or get an underwear bag)
  • Take advantage of front pockets on your suitcase. Suitcases do expand so stuff as much as you can in them.
  • Carry on your laptop (or any other precious items)! I don't trust my laptop going underneath the plane or even in the overhead compartment. People jam their suitcases in with no regard for people's belongings so it's good to keep something breakable with you.
Here's usually what I pack in my carry-on:

  1. Blanket & scarf- I always bring extra items that I can use to keep myself warm since I'm always cold on a plane.
  2. Laptop- I love my Macbook too much to part with it and now some planes have WiFi you can use during flight (and yes those are crossbones under the apple hehe).
  3. Gossip magazines- I always bring some entertaining reading! Or a book but books can be heavy so magazines are another option.
  4. Liquids- My least favorite part of traveling... minimizing all my beauty/skincare items into 3 fl.oz bottles. The best is to find items already in this size, such as the bareMinerals skincare line and my Stila tinted moisturizer.
  5. Food (not pictured)- Planes don't carry many snack options (especially ones for free) nowadays so I always make sure to pick something. Tomorrow we'll be stopping at Dunkin' Donuts.
Was this helpful? How do you pack?

  1. :) great post. I had a similar post, and I do agree that the liquids aspect of flight stinks. Also the dehydration and jet lag

I also stuff my undies in secret places. Usually in socks and THEN into shoes lol.

  4. Great trips and I am a clothing roller too! I like to pack underthings in a clear ziploc bag. Snacks are totally necessary even on long hauls with food (ugh good food depends on the airline!)
