St. Ives Apricot Scrub is Too Rough For My Skin

When people would ask me what skincare product I swore by, I always answered St. Ives Apricot Scrub. Every girl I knew swore by it. It rolled off your tongue, there was no other answer.

Until a few months ago. My skin broke out horribly. I never had acne issues before. Yes, I'd get a few zits from time to time, but nothing unmanageable. But now it was. I tried to eliminate or change steps in my daily facial routine to find the root of the problem. I tried at home remedies such as honey and aspirin masks. However, the last thing I thought to change was my facial scrub because I relied on it so much.

I reached out to the blogosphere and asked for suggestions. Many said that they found St. Ives too rough or irritating for their skin so they recommended some other products. I was shocked by this! I never thought your skin could "change its mind" about a skincare product you've been using for years! But apparently it can... So one of the recommendations was Aveeno's Skin Brightening Daily Scrub. This stood out to me because I trusted Aveeno to other products. Their lotion is great for dry skin!

Skin Brightening Daily Scrub - 5oz by Aveeno $6.49
It has gentle scrubbing beads that aren't as harsh as St. Ives.

Another product I picked up on a whim was Queen Helene's Pomegranate & Raspberry Natural Facial Scrub because 1) Everyone raves about Queen Helene's Mint Julep Mask and 2) I'm a sucker for anything pomegranate. It still has the same kind of sand affect that St. Ives does, but the scrub is much gentler.

I was really losing all hope about my skin and was getting so frustrated that nothing was working... Aveeno saved the day! Sometimes I feel like Aveeno may be "too gentle" so I switch over to the pomegranate facial scrub. But my skin has cleared up (thankfully!) and is back to it's beautiful self!

Do you find St. Ives too rough for your skin? What facial scrubs do you swear by?
