Obama's "Get Schooled" Broadcast

Tonight on many major TV stations (i.e. MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central) Obama's team created a 30 minute TV campaign addressing the new school year, called "Get Schooled." It featured 3 young people who are making a name for themselves in a particular field. Latesha who is an Assistant Account Executive for LeBron James' marketing company, LRMR. Jason who is Kelly Clarkson's Musical Director and Sarah who is a speech writer for the President himself. The segment went back and forth between the 3 subjects, first giving an intro, second explaining their job more and showing a challenge they face on the job, and concluding with how they were successful at "overcoming" that obstacle. I put "overcoming" in quotes because Sarah the speechwriter just had to get over writer's block and Latesha wasn't able to get the artist requested by LeBron. Jason was the only one who really took a challenge head on by re-editing one of Kelly's singles. There was a lot of fussing over Obama brainwashing kids before the school year with this program, but I didn't get it. It was tastefully done. Well presented. I thought there would be more of Obama addressing us. It had a inspirational slogan "You have the right to get schooled." Latesha made a good comment about education never ends for someone. Obama ends with some great words himself, which maybe Sarah wrote, about how our nation cannot be successful or move forward without educating our people. It's an important cause that I hope we will become more successful at achieving.
